Week 2 Run 3

Clearly I'm terrible at reading instructions because my other runs for the week have been wrong doing 90 second runs and 90 second walks when the walks should be 2 minutes, but guess it hasn't hurt.

Today's run was easy but I found I had tight calves when running which I haven't had before. Just to see what next week would be like I ran 3 minutes at the end which was better than expected.

Have also managed to upp my water intake as well which I am usually terrible with thanks to some advice on here to download an app!

All in all great run and hopefully good habits forming 👏

If you’ve got a smartphone get the app, having Laura talk you through it is a big help.

Good luck on forming that running habit. 🙂

Unfortunately the app isn't available in my country which is a shame

Do check out the pinned post for new runners, that may help with the confusion :)

Please, then, do stick to the plan.. it is important, as your calves are already telling you, to let the new running muscles build up really slowly:)

As the runs get longer they will need to be strong as will your strength and stamina.

Our Strength and Flex forum is great to follow alongside this one.. and I posted some calf exercise there a week or so ago:)

I have spent alot of time reading the pinned guide post, I must have read week 2 & 3 around the same time and got the 90 second walk stuck in my head before I started week 2. Thanks for the strength and flex post will definitely start implementing that as well.

Oh my, running without the stop starts being read out to you, that's tough, can you download the podcasts from the bbc site rather than the app. I used the podcasts for all 9 weeks. Good luck

First of all, congratulations on your achievement! 👍 The app isn't available in my country either, but I downloaded the podcasts from nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/g... and would definitely recommend it. I don't know what I would have done without Laura!

I’m an Australian in the Uk and have the same issue with the app. The podcasts downloaded fine for me

You don’t mention if you do the pre run stretches (link in how to post). If not, it might help to try them and see if it helps your calf’s. Well done on completing W2 😁👍
