Well done you.. keep it slow and keep it steady.... and for many of us.. that beginning feeling... the 'toxic ten' at the beginning of runs , particularly when they get longer...is a common feeling
Ah, it's nice to find someone else who is on the same run as me π
What days do you run? I much prefer running in the morning, like you say, sometimes I just want to turn over and go back to sleep, but it's nice to know it's done for the day!
I'm currently trying to run Monday, Wednesday and Friday/Saturday.
I'm having a change in work situation so I'll be off work Saturday to Monday and living between Yorkshire and Durham. I'm hoping to stick to my Monday, Wednesday and Friday runs before work and have the weekend in Durham to do other things like strength training/yoga classes at the gym π
However, the weekend may just turn out to be slob days (or hiking days with the dogs!)
I look forward to seeing how you get on with the plan - I'm already feeling a bit daunted by the 20 minute run in week 5!
I run Monday and Thursday mornings before work and then whatever time I can on a Saturday.
Fingers crossed the change in your work situation won't impact too much on your running schedule.
I really like the structure of it and do find myself thinking that if I don't go out on one of my "running" days then it might mess everything up, which does help me get out the door, but I think I need to learn that one day something will happen to disrupt it and it's all about being flexible!
I've also tried to not look too far ahead into what is in store in the coming weeks, think it might give me a fright!
Good luck for Wednesday, you'll have to let me know how it goes π
Hi Charlotte, I've just started week 5. My first run was fine, and I'm feeling really positive about the two 8min runs, and I have to say that having got to this stage I know I'll be able to do the 20 min run, as long as I take it nice and slow.
Try not to look too far ahead, there are separate weeks for a reason. The last thing you want to do is have a tricky 3 min run (for example) and loose your nerve because of what's further down the line. I'm sure by the time you get there you'll be looking forward to the challenge.
My favourite mantra is that even a bad run is better than no run at all-head down and keep going! X
