Well, my shoes have had their first outing and I like them. I’m glad I went a size up from normal, even if they look like boats!
I decided not to have music today as I the ad’s on Spotify drive me nuts, and the one time I used Amazon I couldn’t hear Laura (?) and didn’t want to risk missing any instructions. When it’s silent I can’t help random counting which means nothing but is a distraction.
It was hard going until about half way through the second 5, then something seems to happen with my arms - it’s difficult to explain - they seem to get into a rhythm with my feet which seems to help 🤔. Anyway, after the second 5 was done I then get the mindset that no way am I giving up now. When Laura said there was only 60 secs to go I decided to speed up.....Yay, done!

For some reason Strava keeps saving my runs with the wrong date. The one above is today’s run, I’ve just double checked, and I also have one from Friday dated the same, 1st Nov.......does anybody else have this problem? It’s happened to me before.....
Ooo, new shoes sound perfect Wenderwoo ? And that looks like my kind of path, I'd love to run in there!!! Its all about the rhythm as you have discovered today!! I'm afraid I have now subscribed to spotify because the ads sent me bonkers and I have a garmin that holds music now so its handy...plus having 3 kids that love their music!! I havent had the problems with Strava, I'd be tempted to get in touch with them if you're having issues x
Great you enjoyed your first run in your new shoes and yes I don't like the adverts on Spotify either but I'm not paying £9.99 a month to stop it. Well done you 😊
I know what you mean about boats 🤣 I used to be proud of my diddy little feet... don't look so small anymore, shoes keep getting bigger and bigger! 🤣🤣🤣
Oh I don't use any streaming services, my Garmin did store music so I just played my own (its broken right now so would have to play music stored on my phone)
Well done Wenderwoo, your new shoes must be properly run-in by now. Looking at the picture of where you run if I had scenery like that to hand I might be tempted not to run in the dark! I'm a Map My Run user occasionally and have not had any problems with it up to now so it might be worth a try. Regarding the 'distraction music', I'm currently not using any as I'm relying on my metronome app to control my pace but am thinking I may need something once my runs last a bit longer. I'm too much of a skinflint to stream anything (I don't have a big data allowance on my 'phone) and certainly wouldn't be paying £10 per month for the same reason. It'll have to be podcasts or Radio 4 for me I think! Well done for finding your rhythm too, it looks like you're really getting into this running thing.
I wouldn’t pay for any music app, or any other app for that matter, as I’ve only used music for running, and only been running for 4 weeks! I certainly wouldn't pay 10 quid a month! We have amazon prime, and you can get free music with that, hence why I tried their app before. I think I might try to find an interesting podcast, or Radio 4 is an idea too - as long as they’re not talking about the B word!
I’ve checked my phone, and my watch, and the Dante’s correct. It’s happened twice since I started using it, and the wrong ones logged with the date of the previous run in both cases. No idea, but not worth getting brain ache about it.....
Hoorah for new shoes and well done you on finding your rhythm. I was reading a book about running recently and the author said to try and imagine your arms moving like pistons to power your legs moving. I thought that was interesting cos I had never really thought much about my arms being important for running before!
100%... sometimes if I'm tired I imagine I'm like a train and use my arms almost as if the elbows are fixed to the top of my thighs and move my forearms forward in tandem with my legs, just like a train 👍🏻🤣
Yes I'm crazy 🤪 but it works, next thing I know, I forget I'm tired and power on through.....
Thing is... I'm not even kidding... I think my colleagues are kinda used to it by now (or they just know I'm a bit odd). I've been spotted more than once up by Chanctonbury Ring doing aeroplanes or jump twists in the lovely grassy slopes or up on Sullington Hill... plus of course my singing away to my music on the trail, sometimes I'll stop and belt out a big chorus only to see a head further up the trail pop round a hedge to see what the racket is!! If I can't see them I just kinda hope no one is there! 🤣🤣🤣 sssssh... he's looking! 🤣👍🏻
I love all of that.....it’s how everybody should be, instead of worried what people think of them. The amount of times I’ve very nearly burst into song whilst running to music, and then held back......well maybe I won’t hold back anymore! Keep on being you hun 😁😜
