Just back from my first run in...30 years! Legs a bit achy π
Week 1 Run 1 done!: Just back from my first run... - Couch to 5K
Week 1 Run 1 done!
Great for getting started. Just go slow and slower again if needed and make sure you're drinking plenty water about 2-3 litres per day and not just on run days. C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck.
Don't forget to stretch after EVERY run.
Great effort well done for starting. Aim for time not distance or speed. Stretch out these achy legs at the end of each run. Keep happy
Hi Chris, great choice starting the program, you'll find most people on here were/are in the same boat as you, as already mentioned, slow and steady, the aim is to complete each 'run' at a pace where you can hold a conversation, if you can't then you're going to fast.
Relax, enjoy the runs and trust the program, it works better than you could ever imagine.
Post up regularly, use the forum like a run diary if you wish, we're all around and will offer advice and encouragement when and if needed.
NEVER miss a rest day and NEVER EVER use the fail word, one great thing about running is you can never fail a run providing you try it, it may not end where you wanted or expected it to but a run is a run.
Welcome and well done for completing the first run. Enjoy your rest and repair day π
Yes Chris, well done for getting out there and doing your first run, I think that is the biggest hurdle. Good choice to join this forum too, the community is the friendliest, most helpful and encouraging bunch of people you could ever hope for.
Excellent. Iβm in the same boat. Only 26 runs to go...............
Well done and welcome, thatβs the hardest one done
Thank you and I hope so, my legs are still sore π
Hot bath and couple of ibuprofen helped me in the early days, stretching after a run helps too and drink water today tomorrow every day, our first run nearly killed us Willow was bent double gasping for breath and my breathing sounded awful and loud, we slowed down and can now comfortably run for half an hour but still get in a hot bath after lol
Awesome. My couch to 5k program started with 10 years at the couch stage, so I understand what a hurdle wk1 r1 is.
Keep it up and keep posting!
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Enjoy your journey
Well done you. I didn't find this forum until I was five weeks in. I'd been doing everything the guide said not to and count myself lucky I didn't do myself any damage. My best advice is go slowly, listen to your body and take as many rest days as you need.
