What a buzz, I couldn’t feel more pleased and proud of myself for taking the first step literally and mentally.
I’ve been struggling with me mental health for a couple of years and had to leave teaching to recover for depression. Today would have been my first day back to school and my classroom, but I’ve now made it the first day of putting myself first.
If you’re in the early stages of this program too or your nearing the end WE CAN DO THIS! 💜

Well done! Running sorted out reoccurring depression for me, so I hope this helps you too. I cannot imagine my life without running now. 😊 Keep up the good work. 👏👏👏
Loads of great advice to be found here, and also support and encouragement 👍👍👍
A quote I from George Sheehan,
"It's very hard at the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually, you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit."
Welcome... that great feeling after that first one just keeps getting better and better. Great job getting it done today. Love the attitude... yes, we can and we will.
What a great photo! Great to out there at any speed. Great start to YOUR new term. Top effort. Hope you are feeling inspired. I'm still early in W4, and it's working, I'm running further. I find myself thanking Jo Whiley for her encouraging words😁
You've got your new PE kit sorted 😉 and seem to have such a great attitude. Good Luck, we are all in this together!
Massive congratulations for starting Sausagedog!! I’m so pleased for you. I find running is fabulous for both lifting the mood and creating some well needed headspace. Life has a way of feeling chaotic sometimes and we’re often just cramming things in (and at times teetering on burnout😒). But this programme made me realise that I’m so worth those 30 minutes of freedom from everything but me, every other day and so are you!! 😉😍 In fact, that time out proves to be just what the Dr ordered in so many ways, time and time again!!
You’ve also chosen a memorable day to start, which is fantastic!! That will be something motivational too as you go along!! 😁 Well done you! ❤️
Aah these are just reminders Sausagedog!! Regularly drink plenty of water, even on your rest days. I think of it as fuel for the muscles that we are now using!!
Do some stretches after your runs. It helps them to repair and recover. And as exciting as all the running will be, do make sure you have your rest days and don’t be tempted to go fast when you do go out. Just relax and enjoy every minute of the run!! Good luck! You can do it!! 😁❤️
You got it right in your first post 'WE can do this'. We run on our own, but if we share our highs and lows, then together we all win. Humans, you know, it's what we do best.
Well done Sausagedog! I’m a teacher too and I’ve gone part-time this year to give myself some time to recover and to start a psychology degree. I’m finding it really odd having some time for myself, but we so deserve it! Good luck!
