I’m just wondering what everyone finds best to listen to whilst running? I know some people who watch Netflix whilst on a treadmill but don’t think that’s for me.
Any good podcasts that take your mind off the difficulty of running? 😂
Cheers!!

I ran with nothing this morning due to an issue with music and couch app messing up.
Found it to be quite relaxing
Normally, I run with a play list that has everything from ABBA to Zappa.
I do thing though that I need to rethink music and as somebody else has pointed out, select tracks that wont subconsciously make me run faster than I'm good for
Well done Hanruh, you are on your way. When I started I just used the app on my 'phone so that I knew when to start (and more importantly when I could stop) running, but initially was against the idea of music as I wanted to be able to hear what was happening around me. (I run mostly through my village, on the pavement and very early in the morning but hearing music and not the out of control lorry skidding along behind me didn't seem a good idea to me!) After a while though I decided that maybe a distraction would take my mind off how far I had run (or yet again, how much further I had to run!). I don't have any music on my 'phone and so I decided to try the podcasts which combine the instructions from the app, with their choice of music. I soon found that I could set the volume to a level where I could hear the instructions without drowning all of the background noise out (and have considered trying running with only one ear bud in) and have found this a great help. I am planning on loading my own music choices to my phone (when I've worked out how to do this & play them) as I'm not particularly keen on the podcast selection, and once I have done that will revert to the app for instructions, and my choice of music for distractions...
I currently use the podcasts but the music is not great. I’m still trying to decide whether to listen to anything as I run outdoors and I’m not sure it’s entirely safe. Some guys on bikes whizzed past me last week and one was shouting to talk to the other behind him, and it scared the wits out of me.
I can understand why you would want something if you use a treadmill as it’s so boring!
I have thought about safety too - I only put one earbud in so I have a “listening to the world” ear & have an ingrained habit of looking extra carefully before crossing a road. 😄
I've stopped listening to anything, but when I started running, I listened to the Peaky Blinders playlist and the Strictly dance playlist (I don't have Spotify). I enjoyed them both.
When I'm out walking, I occasionally listen to There's No Such Thing as a Fish podcast. I also listen to a lot of art history and history of ideas - but that's because it's my thing.
Mostly, I like to listen to what's going on around me, and avoid getting run down by a bus.
Thanks so much everyone loving the playlist and podcast recommendations. Because I’m on a treadmill at the moment, I definitely need something. I like the treadmill because I find it easier to ensure I’m running at a consistent pace for each run. The plan is to start running outdoors once I’ve completed the plan - don’t know if that’s best practice or not!
I listen to podcasts. The Archers (yes, I am very old!) and Feel Better, Live More with Dr Rangan Chatterjee. If I need a boost I've got an audible book 'Feel the Fear and do it anyway'. Bryan Adams also joins me sometimes!
