Very soon after starting running I started craving peanut butter (or almond butter😋). I still eat the stuff everyday but never used like it much before. Has running triggered cravings for anyone else?
Peanut butter-ruining fuel?: Very soon after... - Couch to 5K
Peanut butter-ruining fuel?
That should be running fuel, not ruining fuel lol😂
I'm now a peanut butter eater as well but think running has triggered cravings for lots of things like new clothing, shoes, gadgets...
Avocado and egg on toast. I can't get enough! And I always have a craving for cheese and onion crisps but I have to fight that one........😊
I think I've already bought more than enough running gear so I'm trying hard to resist that particular craving 😂
I get through jars of the stuff! I have also recently purchased some PB2 which is peanut butter powder (less fat).
Running has made me oh so blummin hungry!
I love the stuff and PPB is a real treat on a banana!
I just started C25K 5 weeks ago (on week 4 atm). It's Greek yoghurt for me. I eat half a pot a day, sometimes more.
Eggs and porridge ( but not together ) !!!!!
another pb fan! I have to ration myself as I ate a whole pound tub of meridian peanut butter in two days... I try to only buy one smaller jar a week now..
Tons of low fat humous, I share with my 3 year old at lunchtime and we have a tub between us every two days, dipping in carrot, tomatoes, avocado etc.
Also, running shorts, have three pairs now - and they're short, and I love them (although I feel for anyone that has to see me run in them) - haha!
Why It's So Good for Runners
Peanut butter provides a feeling of fullness much longer after you've eaten than if you'd munched on carbohydrates in the form of, say, pretzels, a choc bar, or even a banana. And that feeling of fullness can help you finish that last set of repeat 400s on the track or power you to the finish line during the last mile of a cross-country 5K.
"Straight sugar or any simple sugar found in carbohydrates shoots your insulin levels high soon after you eat, but then drops them to the floor halfway through your workout, Peanut butter, on the other hand, is full of fat, protein, and fiber, and it gives you a slow, sustained release of energy." It does contain fat, but it is overwhelmingly the preferred unsaturated fat, which makes peanut butter good for your heart.
Oh good. I didn't think it would fit into my low carb diet. I will make some today. It is very expensive to buy here, but I can get peanut oil from time to time if I hunt for it, so I will whip up a batch in the food processor. Also means I can control how much salt is in it!
Chocolate..... Milk!
Almond butter on oatcakes......
I ate a banana yesterday for the first time in years. Very odd.
Just nuts in general for me. I dip in pistachios, cashews, almonds, pecans and Brazil nuts. Lovely!
I went through a phase of craving it - and never even liked it. Turned out I had iron deficiency anaemia and extremely low ferritin levels....
That's so strange as I've been craving ...... Peanut butter! Also cereals.
I'm it's not just me getting through a jar of pb a week😂 I think though it might be something that's helped me lose weight despite the fat content-it's good fat with lots of other nutrients and is satisfying.
Marmite - must be the salt.
Marmite + peanut butter on a crispbread - heaven.
Peanut butter spread on an apple for my lunch today, much to my colleagues amusement! And I like avocado on marmite wholemeal toast, top breakfast.
