Running after ankle injury

Have completed week 4 of the Couch to 5K but hurt my ankle (possibly due to new shoes) on the last run and it’s only just improving now after nearly 3 weeks of very frustrating rest! I’m scared to run on it and wondering whether it’s best to backtrack a bit when I do start running again. Any advice??

When you go back out try a wk1 run and see how you feel if that's ok try a wk2 run and so on until you're back where you finished up. Any pain stop . Good luck 😊

Have you had your ankle checked out or had physio. Poor you. Take care on 1st run out.

That's good advice from Buddy34 ...very gentle running...short, light steps..if it's no better after a few more days I would def get it looked at, better to be safe than sorry x

Thank you! I haven't had it checked out as it is improving (albeit slowly). Think I'm going to try a run in a couple of days (in my old shoes!).

It’s always scary starting again after injury. Follow Buddy’s advice! Don’t forget some dynamic warm ups before you go out the door & gentle stretches on return.
