Ankle injury☹️

I have got all the way up to w7r4, and I am so so proud of myself. My ankle started hurting a bit in w5, but I powered through, quite painful towards the end of 6, and I had to abandon my w7r1 as my poor puffy ankle was so swollen. Should I go to GP, sports physio or Dr Google? My aim is to participate in a park run during the school summer holidays, but I can barely walk at the moment☹️

Ouch! You poor thing. Sounds like it definitely needs a real life opinion, GP or physio pronto, or minor injuries if you can't walk on it.

Elevation & bag of frozen peas wrapped in a TTowel also helps initially. Once you're back on your feet (literally!) listen to any twinges & don't run through pain. Hope it clears up soon 🤞

Thank you! I think I am of the older “don’t want to bother the doctor” generation! I will make an appointment as soon as I can.

Is that you mum? 😄

(Only joking, my parents say that all the time!)

If you can barely walk on it that's not a waste of anyone's time having it checked out 👍

You need a physio. That sounds like you got injured and aggravated it further by running through whatever caused this. When my foot ballooned and hurt, l was off running for over 3 months. Bottom line is, you don’t push through and run through pain, that stuff just won’t heal like that. Good luck!

Yes, I can see now that I have damaged it further. My usual “leave it alone and it will go home” philosophy was certainly not the right one this time!

Don’t blame yourself, many of us learned the hard way. Good news? It’s all fixable, you’ll be as good as new but be patient. Oh, and do check your shoes and do gait analysis once this is behind you.

Ok..... where might I get a gait analysis?
