Almorr Another PB

I enjoyed my first parkrun at Drumpelliier Parkrun this morning, my 6th parkrun altogether, I got a PB of 30.55 and the highest age grading so far in all the runs I have ran of 59.35%.

I don't expect to get that time at my "home" parkrun which is Dunfermline as that is much more undulating with hilly parts compared to the one I was at this morning which is mainly flat.

Thanks Buddy34, as you know the last 100 metres is slightly downhill then flat, I managed a short sprint on that part, possibly helped in getting my time just under 31 minutes. 😊 🏃

Yes indeed Granspeed, it really is a nice course, one of the runners I spoke to after the run told me if it has been raining he wears trail shoes, not running shoes for that particular parkrun. 😊, so I will need to buy trail shoes if I want to ran there if it has been wet. 😊 🏃

Well done Al.

Judging sixty percent now......... excellent stuff.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply toIannodaTruffe

They say 60% is excellent, with me getting 59.35% that is only 0.65% short of the magic 60%, also, I suppose if my time had been 29.59 I would have been around 60%.

Yes, that is two barriers to be broken........30 minutes and 60%!

Looking at the results of this morning's run, I noticed a runner who I was pacing for about 4 Kilometres, she got at time of around 28 minutes, however, I had to slow down a little at about a km to go, hence my 30.55 time, nevertheless I did manage a sprint finish along the final 40 metres, getting below 31 minutes.

Good going Al. I was much slower than that at Drumpellier but I’d been celebrating my 60th the night before! I’ll be back as I’m from Coatbridge originally and have close family there. I started near the back and it took me 30 seconds to cross the start line: it was really about 1k before the crowd thinned out so basically I decided there was no point going for a time and just relaxed and enjoyed the run. Lovely park and great sentimental value for me because I played there as a child.

I’d set a PB two weeks before in San Francisco and they do say you shouldn’t try to go for a PB every week 🙂

I was supposed to be at a meeting this morning but it was cancelled so I did some spontaneous tourism at Hazelhead parkrun in Aberdeen.

I enjoyed my first parkrun at Drumpelliier this morning, nice to know that you used to live in Coatbridge Arthur, there I was 176th, I ran up to the funnel, got my token but with no sign of the marshall with the scanner, I asked someone "where is the person with the scanner?" I was told : "over there": thanks I said, at Dunfermline the person who has the token and the person with the scanner are right next to each other, not a good way away from each other, nevertheless I am not going to complain about that.

I thought that the 2,3,1 go was the start of timing runners at a parkrun, it's not like a event run where they time you by a 'chip.'

Well done! Great time and Age Grading!

Thanks Chris, they say if I had had a time of 29.59 I would have got an age grading of 60%.😊 🏃

Thanks IP, 264 runners is the most that I have ever seen at a parkrun, my run went very well and I am happy with my result. 😊 🏃

A detailed report of that parkrun has just been posted 10 days later, the reason it was so busy was because Strathclyde Parkrun, the nearest to Drumpellier was cancelled due to something else being on in the park, there were 264 runners the day I was there, however, last Saturday when I wasn't there, about a more normal 180 ran at Drumpellier.
