I would like to especially thank Buddy34, Sandie1961, Tailchaser, Cheekychipmunks, Dexy5 and UTS for wishing me well on the occasion of my 1st Year Parkrunniversary before I even write my report on how my run went today, thank you.
Today a year ago I felt a little nervous on leaving my house to run my first parkrun at Dunfermline, when I got to the park there was the first-timers briefing and after that the nervousness completely went and I enjoyed my first parkrun ran in a time of 34.15, since then I have ran 17 official parkruns and this morning I ran my 17th virtual and 4th (not) parkrun, when I submitted my time this morning of 33.12 underneath in red are the letters PB, I know my PB for any 5K parkrun is 30.55 ran at Drumpellier Parkrun last September then realised that the (not) parkrun is slightly different, my 4th one today is a PB regarding not parkruns, good run today in quite cool conditions

Its really good that other runners can inspire other people on this forum, I just hope it won't be too long before 'real' official parkruns can resume.
Well done AlMorr. How quickly we all went from nervously approaching our first parkrun to feeling totally welcome and a member of a new "family" (much like the C25K forum come to think of it!).
In my case it was about 2 minutes from the Run Director arriving at the start of the Conkers parkrun (I was there early because I didn't know how long it would take me to walk from the campsite). She was so welcoming and I have seen her again every year since. But not this year unfortunately because the music festival has been cancelled so we won't be there next month for my 4th parkrunniversary. Hopefully next year.
I always remember all the dogs barking at each other at the back of the pack just after the run director gave her briefing after the first-timer briefing, there are usually two briefings at a parkrun, for newcomers and news and a welcome to runners from elsewhere beyond where the parkrun is held, I believe I remember there were a few runners from Australia at my first parkrun.
Happy parkrunniversary Al your time is brilliant and I hope you keep your happy smile all day. Iβm sure park run will be back soon now, but Iβm loving the routine of 5k on saturdays and reading everyoneβs posts
That's a thing I did a lot before I ran at parkruns, read all the reports on a Saturday morning, I enjoyed my 4th (not) parkrun and it was good that I got a PB, on recent Saturday mornings my times have been getting a little slower, however, today was the fastest since not parkruns began, the best time on recent Saturday mornings for me was the week before not parkruns began, it was my 13th virtual parkrun and my time was 32. 14, that would have been a PB but as they did not begin until the following week, today was a PB regarding not parkruns.
I hope you enjoy your walk or run today, the weather isn't too bad anywhere in the UK today.
Well done AlMorr. There are so many runners on this forum who havenβt yet been able to take part in a real parkrun and your post gives an indication of what itβs like to be part of the parkrun family. We all look out for each other, and compare our runs on a Saturday morning. Itβs not about being the fastest; itβs about joining our community for a run at the same time every week. Volunteering is also fun and so very rewarding. Fingers crossed it will be back in a few months.
What might happen when official Parkruns return is that there may have to be social distancing and we all have to wear masks π, although that hasn't happened in Lexi6's home country of New Zealand it could be a condition for them to return here in the UK
Thanks Dexy on saying my post and report gives a indication on what it is like at a official Parkrun.
Next Friday I am going to get the bus, that will be the first bus I have been on for 4 months, to Dunfermline and walk, perhaps even run a little around the parkrun course, that will certainly bring a few happy memories back to me, might even take a photograph. π ππΎ
If we have to wear masks Al, I for oNe will Not be running. I donβt think they will open It up until Everything can run as normal. You can not restrict numbers and you cannot space people out. And the volunteers must be safe and ready to come back.
Oh Al, congratulations on your (not ) parkrun runniversary PB! I remember you going on your first one. Now here you are, inspiring new runners. Amazing πππππ
Thank you very much grumpyoldgirl, I like to think that I inspire new runners as well as congratulate them when they have completed runs 3 of weeks 5.6. and 9 and also tell them where to get their graduation badge and the word GRADUATE π next to their username.
Midnight in New Zealand, you might see this post in the morning, I was just saying to Dexy5 that although the runners at parkruns in New Zealand don't wear facemasks, but when parkruns begin in the UK that might be a requirement.
I enjoyed my 1st parkruniversary run on Saturday morning, it was nice getting a not parkrun PB. π ππΎ
Happy Anniversary and congratulations on the (not) PB π
It's so wonderful to read your posts - what a lovely taste of what parkrun is like - and to know that are enjoying your running and able to inspire others.
Enjoy the rest of your (not) anniversary day. πΈππ
Happy Anniversary! I'm enjoying the (not) parkrun challenge. I don't really go out to run fast but I'm trying to do a fastish 5k! I'm a snail! Always will be! π
Yes it is thank you Mum22 boys, quite a contrast in times for the 5K distance I did this week, on Monday I strolled round on a slow walk using Mapmywalk in a time of 73 minutes, I ran a 12K on Wednesday, however, I noticed my final 5K split time on that run from 7 to 12K was 41 minutes but today to make up for those slow times I ran my 17th virtual and 4th not parkrun in 33.12 which is a little bit quicker than last Monday morning's walk.
Sorry about your injury 59er and being on the IC, I hope it won't be long before you can get running again, thanks for the heads up regarding my parkrun history, it means from next week I will have ran more virtual parkruns than official ones, but now there are (not) parkruns which are becoming more popular by the week. π ππΎ
Sorry I am late here my friend. I don't go on this forum but want to congratulate you on your PB not park run time. Wish you well also on your journey to 10 miles π½
Thanks GTFC, this Wednesday I will be running 14K, however, as 14K is so near to 16K or a little over, I may continue to the 10 miles, it will certainly depend on how I am feeling on the day. π ππΎ
