This morning I ran my 50th. Parkrun at Dunfermline parkrun, just short of 3 years since my first parkrun at Dunfermline, more details about my run on Damienair's parkrun forum.
Almorr - 50th Parkrun : This morning I ran my... - Couch to 5K
Almorr - 50th Parkrun
Congratulations on your 50th park run Al ππWell done πππ
Thanks Ian, I have been working up to this morning hoping to get a double celebration which I got, it was my 50th parkrun and the 7th birthday of Dunfermline parkrun, after the run I had a cup cake and a small piece of birthday cake π,yummy π.
No ice cream swirl? π
Ha ha Ian, I ate my ice cream swirl in the afternoon, not just after I got home when I had my lunch, at 2 o'clock I took Holly the dog a walk, came back from that walk and then ate the ice cream swirl.
Congratulations on your 50th park run. Hubby is 74, walks every day but thinks he's left it too late to start running. I've shown him your post!
Thanks Marvincat, I walk every day, I bike ride one day a week on a Sunday and run on Saturday at Parkrun and also have a longer midweek run on a Wednesday, it's not really too late for your husband to start running, I started with C25K when I was in my early 70's, ask him to try the C25K training program and see how it goes
Well done on your 50th parkrun.ππ
Congratulations on your 50th Parkrun AlMorr - here's to your next 50, and more!
Thanks Cmoi, it has taken just under 3 years for me to get to No. 50, of course there was that year and a half off at any parkrun due to Covid 19, last Autumn I ran at 13 Parkruns in a row when my late friend Keith took me to various parkruns by car, sadly he died in January, I took a few weeks off running and started going to parkrun by bus, usually two in a row with a week off but today was my 6th Saturday in a row going to parkrun by bus and two by train, I wanted a double celebration, Dunfermline's 7th birthday to coincide with my 50th parkrun which I achieved this morning.
Congratulations AlMorr ! What an achievement π π₯³
Well done on your 50th park run, Al! An amazing achievement. You are an inspiration to us all. πππππ
Thank you very much Julia, I enjoyed my 50th parkrun this morning, it was a double celebration, my 50th run and the parkruns 7th anniversary.
Congratulations, Al.
I suppose you have to go for a tee shirt fitting now.
Thanks, I will wear my red 50 T Shirt when I get a e mail congratulating me from Parkrun Headquarters, that happened when I ran my 25th parkrun, they congratulated me and asked me regarding my T Shirt fitting size, I am of medium build, around 10 and a half stone, 67.3kilograms, so medium sized is OK for me.
Congratulations Al, that is an impressive achievement. I am yet to do my first, but hope to soon so I can see why they are so popular!
50th well done I've only done 1 Burnham-on-Sea last week
Thanks Teejay113, I hope you enjoyed that one parkrun at Burnham on Sea last week π
Yes I really enjoyed it thanks.
I'm doing Challenge 10K a day for the next 101 days. To raise money for Cancer research were up to Β£330 so far its only been 2 days
And don't worry about me I've been doing 10K runs for a few months.
And I've been checked out by the Doctor.
I'm good to go.
Wish me luck.
Congratulations on going to run Challenge 10K, you will run 1,010 Kilometres/627 miles altogether by the end of that challenge, that's further than the distance from London to Inverness, I will certainly wish you luck.
Thanks Liono, most runners on this forum who do the C25K training program then go to their first parkrun, everyone who goes to parkrun are very friendly, great atmosphere, this morning I was lapped by a few sub 25 minute 5K runners, some of them who passed me shouted out as they passed, "well done on your 50th run" so once you have graduated from C25K give parkrun a try.
Well done AlMorr on your 50th park run. That is fantastic and you have done exactly 50 x more than me π. Hereβs to the next 50!
Sorry for late congratulations ππππππ
Your 50th Parkrun Alan!!
Such an achievement πππ
You are such an inspiration.. bow to your awesomeness π₯πββοΈ
Thank you very much Caroline, 50 parkruns now completed, it was a good run for me on Saturday ππΎπI am not sure if I will run at Elder Park parkrun, its about 15 miles from where I live, Dunfermline parkrun is 25 miles but easy to get to by car or bus.
Congratulations on your 50th parkrun
Well done, Al. Thatβs a fine achievement. Looking forward to you posting about your 100th next year.
Thanks HeavyFoot, I enjoyed my 50th parkrun yesterday, not sure about No. 100 next year, I don't go to parkrun every week, it's usually two in a row with one week off with not too many parkruns ran in the winter months especially if it's very icy or with a lot of snow, my 100th parkrun is more likely to be in 2024 but you never know.
Hey congratulations!! I'm aiming for mine in Aug or Sept, just did no 41 yesterday!
Congratulations on your 50 th park run Al. πΎπΎππππ
Congratulations AlMorr you are are real inspiration for all us fellow runners!!
That is so inspiring! I am starting to think about my very first park run but don't think I'd choose hilly Pittencrieff Glen in Dunfie! Perth or Lochore Meadows for me I think. Congratulations to you AlMorr
Thank you for your message to me regarding my 50th parkrun at Pittencrieff Park parkrun in Dunfermline on Saturday, I made Dunfermline my "home parkrun" in 2019 because since 2010 I have been going walks through that lovely park regularly on a Friday, when I discovered that there was a parkrun on a Saturday morning I made it my home parkrun, I have never ran a PB there probably because of that hill, the other parkrun I attend is Drumpellier Parkrun, that's where all my PB's have been run.
Huge respect to you for 'running up that hill' so often! Being used to running on my own, I think when I try a park run I'll initially find the urge to keep up with others instead of going at my own pace enough of a challenge without adding in a big hill! But hopefully I will join you there one day π
In the early years I did run up that hill but usually my time was around 34 something, recently I have walked quickly up that hill and my time because of that "rest" has improved to sometimes sub 32 minutes, the reason is that I run a little faster on the more flatter parts, the last two runs a Dunfermline park run my time with a little quick walk up the steepest part of the hill was 32:50 and yesterday 33:09, the time for my first two runs at Dunfermline with NO walking were 34:16 and 34:17, some runners have achieved a sub 30 minutes 5K despite having a few walking breaks.
Whoop π whoop π Congratulations on your 50th parkrun Al!! ππππ
Thanks TailChaser, I enjoyed my 50th parkrun yesterday.
Excellent, and I hope your well deserved coffee and cake was extra enjoyable for it.
There was no coffee but after the run I ate a cup cake baked by the RD and a piece of birthday cake which was π delicious π
Wow π₯³ππ₯³ππ₯³π
Congratulations on your 50th Al πππ
Huge congratulations on your 50th parkrun AlMorr π π π π₯³ π Did you get a t-shirt?You are a true inspiration - I hope you celebrated with a lovely chocolate swirl ice cream
