That’s week one done found it a bit tougher tonight. I’ll be starting week two on Monday as I’m jeffing a local parkrun on Saturday and getting my friend out to do run one on Sunday

Are you following this programme, because this gets you to running for 30 minutes after nine weeks...:)

If folk do park run, we advise you to just run for the time the run you are on asks for... i,e.

If you are on Week 2 run 1 for the park run...then begin with a brisk 5-minute warm-up walk then you will alternate 90 seconds of running, with 2 minutes of walking, for a total of 20 minutes.

I am assuming this is what you are doing and that your speed for Week 1 included warm up walks and cool downs? :)

Thanks my usual style of running is run walk so I do 30:30 eg 30 seconds running 30 seconds walking and this has taken me to 100 parkruns two marathons various half marathons and 10ks however I’ve never completed couch 2 5K and I would really like to be able to go out three times a week and run for thirty minutes keeping my run/walk (jeffing) for my long runs if that makes sense

Maybe then, although you want to do C25K (which of course you may ), you could also head to Bridge to 10K or indeed the Marathon and Half Marathon forum... as this forum follows the C25K nine week plan, taking our new runners to running 30 minutes, injury free and and having had fun ; so our replies etc won't really be of use to you :)

There will be loads of advice there to help you get to those 30 minute runs....

Trouble is, here, some of our new runners may see your posts and think that they have to keep up with you ...🤣

Fair enough I’ve found it really supportive though because whilst I can do distance I can’t do time so thirty minutes solid running is as much as a challenge as for everyone else so maybe I’ll just keep to my couch 2 5K runs if that’s ok there is no way I could even attempt running solidly for more than 90 seconds at the moment

Absolutely fine...and if you follow this plan for the nine weeks ...we can give you a Graduate badge!

Thank you it seems like a huge mountain at the moment 😊

Just follow the plan...it works.. it got me from just about running for 90 seconds in 2015..to my first HM, this year, aged 69...running for 2hrs 48 minutes...all 13.126 miles of it...all the way :)

Brilliant that’s a huge achievement I can’t imagine ever being able to run solidly for that long and I’m only a mere youngster at 55 😂
