A Short Ode on Changing My Tune

Today I ran my fastest time

(At least I hope it’s true)

I put it down to running

To the dulcet tones of Hugh

I chose the Greatest Showman

To help me on my way,

Fiddled with my Strava

Stepped outside and then hit play

I skipped on through the ballads

And instead I moved my feet

To stirring, rousing choruses

And a driving, steady beat

Now I love a bit of am dram

And in the early light

With Hugh inside my headphones

I relived my opening night

I checked no one was looking

Save one lonesome, curious cow

And to a great crescendo of applause

I took a bow!

So will I beat my new PB?

Who knows - but then hey ho

I’m running now three times a week

And to that I say Bravo!
