Ode to having done my run.

Well thanks to all who read my ode

You helped me do my run

Getting up BEFORE the alarm

My promise has begun

I slipped (?) into my running gear

Socks checked for Left and Right

Then tied my trainers upon my feet

And off into the night (well it seemed like that!)

The warm up walk was up a hill

Already I was breathless!

I thought about the minutes hence

And said “I am NOT feckless!”

With gritted teeth and Cheshire Cat grin

I set off on my jog

I passed closed curtains, street lights still on

And barking from a dog

I changed my route to keep me going

I undid my jacket zip

If I am working up a sweat

Perhaps I AM quite fit?!

I thought I’d nearly finished

When in my ear it blew

The voice from Jo who put me right

“Well done! You’re halfway through” 😳

Well I carried on and breathed in deep

Took oxygen into my lungs

“I’ll do this if it kills me” I thought

“It’s only a gentle run”

I persevered and looked around

The curtains now ajar

The street lights off and birds were singing

I really was not far

Near the base from where I started

My stitch it had diminished

Then the awaited voice I heard

“Well done! NOW you have finished!”

That’s fab ! Oh, that dreadful half way voice - almost as bad as when you drive yourself through the last run and then Sanjeev says “Well done ! Only one more run to go !” 😂

Brilliant!

And I'm with ButtercupKid- I hate the halfway voice, and the "one minute to go" voice. The music dims, you get ready to stop, then your hopes are dashed!

But well done, you battled through!

Love this. 😀. Though still can’t run in the morning. Just doesn’t work for me. I am such a sleep monster.
