Gutted! Ordered to rest due to a leg infection. My life changing running programme is on hold. :(

Things were going well so well. I have managed to complete up to W8R2, leaving me only 4 runs to go. However I was in so much pain today with an infection on my leg that I ended up going to the hospital. I have to say that the doctor and nurses there were brilliant - but they've sent me home with various tablets and creams including antibiotics, and have been told to rest so that the infection does not spread. I tried to explain to them that I was in the middle of a life changing running programme (words which I don't use likely as I truely believe this to be the case) but although sympathetic they insisted that I take a break. Sooooo, I am not going to beat myself up and get dispondent. Instead I will concentrate my efforts on answering other peoples queries when I can, and do my best to motivate fellow runners. Good luck to you all!

Sorry to hear that stridingedge, but I know you will be back on track as soon as possible. Take good care of yourself and get properly better. Running will still be waiting for you when you're ready. :)

Sorry to hear about the leg but you will still get there in the end.

Oh dear, I'm sorry... you and runningwild and Delia... how frustrating. But as usual Legion's right. You're so far on in the programme, I'm sure once you start again you'll regain anything you've lost very quickly.

Get well soon to you all x

Thank you Mitts. I hope you are right, I will be devastated if I lose the stamina I've built up.

Get well soon! Sadly it seems you've joined the 'running on hold' club which is growing larger by the day :( But it's not forever; I'm slowly regularly running again after 7 weeks of 'on and off' running due to an injury. Hopefully it won't be long before you can pick it up again :)

stridingedge get better soon. Don't be tempted to run-if that infection spreads that's your running over for a very long time! Running is waiting for you, as legion says. it is frustrating to not be able to keep to schedule, but commonsense has to prevail. Hopefully you will heal quickly and it won't be too long before you can pick up the threads once again :-)

Thank you. I'll do as I'm told!

Oh dear! I didn't mean to sound as though I was telling you, only advising:-). You told us your problem and we're only trying to help you.

Hi stridingedge - my husband had a bad leg infection a few months ago, he was one step away from being admitted to hospital but the doctor gave him a course of antibiotics and painkillers (probably similar to you) and he was told to rest also, but he was back up and running approx 2 weeks later once the infection had cleared, with no problem.

Hope your leg is better soon :)

Minuette thankyou. I can't wait to get going again. I'm also on antibiotics and painkillers. Hope your husband is still ok!
