Unintentional week off

After a hectic week at work and a nasty migraine that’s knocked me for six for the last few days, it’s now a week since my last run (which was w6r3).

Feeling much better so will go after work tomorrow but feeling a bit nervous that I will have lost some of the fitness I’ve worked so hard to improve the last six weeks.

Wish me luck!

You’re gonna be fine... it takes two weeks of inactivity to start losing fitness, and the plan has us more than ready for each run. Set off nice and slowly, the biggest issue I have after a break is pacing, and enjoy that run.

Oh thanks, that makes me feel less apprehensive. Looking forward to getting back to it!

Good luck, you should be fine.

I took a month off when my daughter was in hospital and was convinced I would have to go back a few weeks, but I was able to carry on from where I left off, just go at your own pace x

I have frequent migraines and regularly have 5 days or so when I can’t run; in fact I haven’t been out since Sunday. It’s never been a problem getting back into my stride unless I’ve tried to go too soon. A few times I thought it might help to try a short run on that murky day after the migraine ends and you just feel groggy but it’s not worked for me; so I find for me it’s best to wait until I really do feel better. Don’t forget to hydrate really well too, important anyway but especially so with migraine, and after an attack when you might be dehydrated. Good luck and look after yourself x

I definitely know what you mean about that groggy day, felt a bit like that yesterday but much better today so should be fine for tonight. Thank you! X

I can completely understand what you mean. I did wk 6 run 2 on Sunday and have had a really hectic week so haven’t been able to run until tonight. I’m dreading it too but reading the replies you have received I’m not feeling so bad about tonight’s run now x

Good luck for tonight, we’re in it together! Let me know how you get on! X

Glad to hear you’re feeling better. I’m sure your run will go far better than you expect. Good luck!

Thank you! I’ve just got back and it went ok, not great but I did it. Legs and breathing were fine but I didn’t leave enough time between my afternoon snack and the run so felt a bit ‘ew’ 😂

in reply toKat_runs4490

I know that feeling, we live and learn! 😊Well done though, getting the breathing right is so great.

I must confess I did it this morning, I was too tired last night. It wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be but I did have to push myself for the last few minutes. I feel much better now that’s it’s done though. How did you get on with your run? x

Well done! I love a morning run, it gives you such a sense of accomplishment for the rest of the day!

I did struggle but I did it! Wasn’t the most enjoyable 25 minutes but I feel so much better being back on track x

Well done you. We’ll have to make sure we keep to the 3 runs a week so we can graduate together x
