I am a lady over 50 who has just completed week 9 . I am inspired and even though I found week 7 really hard found 8/9 better . New trainers purchased / new running kit . What worries me is how do I keep this up working full time when the nights draw in ?

Many congratulations , what an achievement!

I find I need to get up at 5.30 in the darker mornings to squeeze a run in before going to work. It is dark then, and I wear a high viz jacket, but I do stick to roads with street lights, just to be sure I don’t fall over a log or something. But I also make good use of weekends when I can actually run in daylight!

And I believe some people manage to do a run in their lunch hour! I can’t do that though.

Hope you can find something that works for you

Congrats BrynNessa, great achievement in graduating. I resort to the gym in the winter, bit boring but I can then run when I want. You have to keep it up now you've done do well!

Well done. You could go to park runs or join a ladies running club. Also for safety if you live with someone ask them to down load an app called life 360. It tracks your whereabouts 💫

Congratulations and well done on completing the c25k plan. In the winter I run a 5K loop in the evenings after work which is covered the entire way around with street lights. I also run at a parkrun almost every Saturday morning which keeps me motivated and gives me the motivation needed to drag me away from the nice warm couch and brave the elements.

Hi thank you for your advice . I am investing in a fluorescent vest and head torch. The local park in mostly lit so will find a 5k loop always in the light . 👍🏼

Congratulations! Winter can be hard to find the light, maybe you could vary the runs up a little by then so you can get a couple in at lunchtimes and a longer one on your days off? Celebrate well and enjoy your future running adventures after a little consolidation work.

Well done you should be so proud of yourself. I'm a morning person so would have to be a high visibility jacket for me. Good luck

👏👏👏👏👍 well done you!

Well done! In relation to Winter.... I'm currently heading out at 5am every other day to clock in an 11k before work, a tad dark but as has been mentioned keep to street lit roads & I also have a light, not a head one though as they don't work for me personally, one of the chest ones which also really helps light the path you're running.

Brilliant! Well done you 👍🎉🙌

I can’t help on when to run as I’ve been able to run during the day, but I will be in the same situation at the end of September when I start a new job, so I’ll comment on experience then 👍

I’m 54 in 2 days and celebrating getting back into running after 2 years off. You’ve inspired me!! X

Well done! I was out early for a run today and stuck to the main road for safety and visibility reasons

Congratulations, you must be feeling amazing.

I’m facing the same problem as you. I have been going out between 6-6.30am. I think I will now have to run after work and drive about 9 miles to the nearest town where there are street lights.

If you have someone to run with maybe you could go out in the dark with fluorescent vests and torches?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

After reading the other posts I’m already doing some of the things mentioned (parkrun & running club), along with fluorescent jacket & a light (albeit in a running belt) n guess I’ll av 2 run around my village streets as the cycle & run/walk path is unlit ☹️ X
