Well I never - from a sloth type overweight pen pusher who struggled running for 60 seconds to a “still overweight” but fitter RUNNER who has consistently run 30 minute uninterrupted and without the need to have a team of paramedics at the end of the treadmill .
I have followed the plan to the letter and as such have done the 9 week plan on 9 weeks which I’m even more proud of because before I would have found any excuse to ignore exercise - now not even holidays made me change my routine.
Now granted I may be over exaggerating on the 5k bit in 30 minutes but I didn’t expect to do it within 9 weeks but today’s was 4km dead in 30 minutes.
Now for me this is good as this gives me the next challenge of continuing to run 30 minute sessions but gradually up the pace until the elusive 5k.
Then perhaps 10k .... then .... then....
The forum and support here has been invaluable giving advise and reassurance for those pesky difficult sneaky weeks that would have caught me out if I hadn’t been made aware of.
Thanks to everyone to posted or replied !
Right for this week it’s over and out for me - I’m off home for a large Gin and Tonic or 2 to celebrate the fact that I’m a bl##dy runner now !

I can totally identify. My job is also sedentary and I had to do something as I'm obese and approaching 50. I'm on week 9 now with 2 more runs till graduation. Loving it and what ive achieved and no doubt you are proud. Be proud, you're amazing, and keep inspiring!
