I was over the moon with Run 3 week 5 and went out this morning full of positivity (?) for run 1 week 6. OMG, I nearly puked. The first 5 min run was bad, the 8 minute was a bit better and the last 5 min run almost finished me off. I was 2 seconds away from just giving up.I was red faced and in agony. What happened in the space of 48 hours? Any tips? How long should I leave in between runs? I'm not running again until Thursday and I'm dreading it already!
Week 6 Run 1- HELL: I was over the moon with Run... - Couch to 5K
Week 6 Run 1- HELL
That run is the longest workout to date in the programme and catches many out .........a bit of overconfidence after W5R3 and probably pushing too hard...........one twenty minute run does not a runner make.
Always have a rest day between runs.
If you are dreading a run then read this healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
I always congratulate runners on completing run 3 of week 5 but warn them about run 1 of week 6, perhaps you ran a little too fast today, I suggest you take a few extra days off running, say two rather than one day off, drink plenty of water the day before you run and if you wish to repeat run 1 rather than run 2 of week 6, but that's up to how you feel, no run on C25K should be dreaded.
Don't give up.. you are so close. You have nearly completed all the interval runs which are tough! Xx you can do this x
After the euphoria of W5R3 this one does feel tough! But... look what you have already come through, this is just the next step, won't be long and you'll be wondering how it felt hard.
Hang in there, you're doing better than you think! 💪🏻👍🏻😁
Please don't worry. Wk6 r1 and r2 seem to have the same effect on a lot of people. Have your rest days then go out for r2 . Just go as slow as possible . You can do this 😊
Don’t dread it I have between 2-3 days between runs and hydrate all the time to make sure you’re hydrated enough for when you run and stretch before and after you’re running. If you’re finding it too much go slower it’s not a race you pace will improve over time trust me on this have fun enjoy yourself early morning or later on at night is the best for running but that does depend on the person I generally run in the afternoon in the park which is nice a cool don’t get to hot 🥵 not good and just enjoy it you have come so so far to give up now you have done fantastic and it gets better and better I take a running water bottle when I run I’m one of them runners that needs it you might already do it if not get yourself a running water bottle I hope you don’t dread Thursday there is no need too happy running 😉👏👏👏👏👍
Thank you so much for your positive reply. I refuse to give up! I'm far to stubborn!
Your very welcome and that’s the absolute attitude to have like me I’m a fighter I never will give up as well as you you’re a fighter and you’re going to do some incredible things with your running you will complete C25K and you should look into doing park run and an event run I did race for life 5k and next year 10K run event and many more things to come for you 😉👏👏👏👏👍🏁🏃♀️🏅well done you
Hi...I'm a little bit past you... w7r2 just completed. I had exactly the same experience and felt so cheesed off with it after feeling like I had smashed it in all the previous weeks. I too found ALL of w6 really tough.. and nearly repeated w6 again... however others on here suggested to keep going to w6... glad I did... am smashing that out of the park again...
Keep going. You can do it!
I'm hoping that Run 2 is better otherwise I may start week 6 again. Thanks for the advice.
You've nothing to fear. Trust the plan and remember every run and every week prepares you for the next! My bad run was w7r1 but the great people on this board told me we all have bad runs from time to time, experienced and beginners, we're not robots are we! You're at the beginning of your running career and doing great!!
Slow down and breathe, you've got this !
You finished your run (even though it tried to kill you off), I would move on if you complete a run, repeat if you didn't finish, they were my rules and served me well.
As already said, this is longer than w5r3 cardio-wise, even though the running sections are individually shorter.
Let us kniw how you get on
