Finished week 1, no rest days as I wanted to start next weeks run on a fresh week. Can't imagine at this stage I will be able to run for 10 min let alone 30 in the coming weeks but I will give it a go!

Don’t worry about what is or isn’t a week. This is a nine stage plan. Rest days are a very important part of it.

That is a BRILLIANT insight SL!

I wish I'd seen it when I began as "Stages" rather than "Clock is ticking" Weeks :)

I would have done what I did - and so very enjoyably - when I did the entire programme again from scratch after a six month IC halt.

Taken it slow....slow...slow :)

C25K in easy stages - brilliant! :)

Please, unless you are REALLY lucky, don't miss Rest Days. I cannot tell you how often even more advanced runners chance that and bitterly regret it when the injury occurs.

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

As SlowLoris said, the rest days are there for a reason. I often think we should call them repair days (which they are) then maybe people would take them more seriously.

Of course you are able to do whatever you want, but by skipping the rest days you greatly increase your risk of injury.

You have made a great decision starting this programme.

Enjoy it 😊

Great that you've completed wk1, from now on though make sure you have a rest day in between each run. You could injure yourself and not be able to run at all. Well done you 😊

Thank you everyone, I will definitely make sure I have the rest days going forward. I really want to complete all of the stages so I will take all advice given!

As a recent graduate doing consolidation runs I would also say the rest days are as important as your run days. Sometimes I take an extra day if I know I need it and I come back stronger and feeling ‘on track. Good habits mean you’ll develop better as a runner. Good luck - take your time to ease your body into a new routine.

Not what you're looking for?
