First park run tomorrow 😳

Am literally terrified - have not yet run 5k ever, despite graduating a month or two ago. Everyone says ‘you’ll be fine’ but I am soooo nervous and not convinced I can do it. I don’t want to walk, I feel like that would be a fail (not in any way judging people who walk, but wouldn’t be happy with myself).

Please think of me at 9am, I always feel virtual support is invaluable. Will update. 😱

It’s my first parkrun tomorrow too, it would be good if it was the same one we could cheer each other on. 😜

Nothing to be terrified regarding your first 5k Parkrun, I admit that I was a little nervous for a few hours before I ran my first parkrun a few weeks ago, it reminded me of the feeling I had just before I ran run 3, week 5 of C25K, but immediately the man gave the first time briefing to first time parkruners I felt much more relaxed, there were a number of runner's walking, particularly up the steeper parts, so don't worry if you have to walk for a few minutes, I hope you enjoy your first 5k Parkrun tomorrow. 😊 🏃

Just relax, run at your own easy pace, don't chase anyone and enjoy it.

Whatever happens, you will set a parkrun pb that you can chip away at in the future.

That’s true - hadn’t even thought of that in my crazy head! 👍

Your VRB’s will either be running at the same time, or thinking about all of you guys at parkrun in the morning... I’m in the second group there as my last run of the week isn’t compatible (bad planning by me and the draw of a free cappuccino!)

parkrun is quite like here in that it’s amazingly supportive... you’re in good hands... we don’t just send our runners anywhere you know? 🤣

I don’t think you’ll be “fine” I think you’ll be amazed and amazing in equal measures... have fun.

Parkrun atmosphere is super friendly and supportive, some runners are quick and overtake some part run part walk others walk the whole way. Anything goes.

I’m running Parkrun 5 tomorrow so I’ll be thinking of you during. Do you know what the course is like?

I found on YouTube a GoPro time lapse video that showed the course. Might be worth having a look! Post when you get home let us know how you get on.

Did it! Came in in just under 40 minutes, which is fine. I wanted to run it all and I did... could literally cry! The volunteers were cheering us on which made me think of all of you that were doing it too. Hope you all managed whatever you were aiming for - WE ARE RUNNERS!!!! Thank you for all your support 🥳
