W9R1 but sore knee

Had a niggle for a couple of days. Had a great run today but niggle really sore when it came to the end and 5 min walk. Asked my therapist friend to have a look. She said something about a bursa (spelling?) and ice and rest and maybe not run Monday. I’ve made it to the last two runs, so close. I’ve got a gel ice pack I’m doing 10 mins every hour and will rest tomorrow, I really want to finish on schedule, I know it may only be a day but I’ve stuck to the programme religiously. To run for 60 seconds let alone 3 minutes seemed impossible. Now I’m doing a full half hour with scope for more, knee permitting.

I know, but been on such a high with each progression, on the other hand it’s the first set back so consider myself lucky.

Indeed :) So...just imagine how hard it is to go from running a HM, back to running for 1K after injury ... that was me :) Ha ha...

The run will wait and you will enjoy it far more without any niggly worries... we and the badge will be waiting!

Ibuprofen too. Congratulations on your running!

Always got a tube of ibuprofen gel just in case, had a couple of small ouches, I’ve been really lucky so far though. I’m just fired up to graduate. I’m very proud of me and a couple of days really don’t make a difference. Still hoping for a Wednesday. Watch this space

I can understand the need of graduation, but why risking an injury? If I did follow to the letter I would have graduated ages ago, but for me my health is paramount, so far I have had one week off because I was ill, 3 repeated runs as I have failed, then I had to have longer breaks so my muscles recovers.... Why the haste? I'm on my week8, and I will probably graduate in 3 weeks, because I can barely run with the heat, so... If it is painful I would be weary and get checked as you may risk going to the injury couch!!! On the other hand, well done!!!

My left knee was just the same, so I ran with a knee support. Amazingly enough since I started doing the longer runs it has (touch wood)been fine - not a twinge! I’m guessing it’s because other muscles in the leg are getting stronger and my general fitness has improved plus I’ve lost a bit of weight...? I just don’t know but I wanted to share this to let you know that running can actually help joints! Just to add - I do leg stretches before and after runs. I’ve now graduated and am doing 35 minute runs (can’t believe it even as I write!!) Yay for C25K!!! 👏

I'm sure it would be very frustrating to delay your last run but it would be worse to aggravate an injury and not be able to continue. Take care.

What a pain...I have some bursa issues with my hip. I do some recommended exercises (that I found online) and though I can feel a bit tender the day after a run, it's definitely better than it used to be and always seems fine by run day so I keep on keeping on. Hope your knee improves by Monday...be sensible though, not worth putting yourself on the injury couch just coz you don't want to delay for a day or so. Good luck 👍

I’ve been icing and my friend gave me some strapping, both have helped. So fingers crossed

Pinkypimkie is soooo right. You could do more damage by pushing on through. I’ve been nursing a grumbling Achilles tendonopathy, and had to rest then go back a few weeks at week 6, and it sucks but i did feel that the extra time made my running even stronger. It’s worth taking time out to make sure an injury is securely healed and rested. If you make it worse you could be on the injury couch for weeks (or months...).
