So towards the end of week 2 run 3. My knee really started playing up it’s a horrid pain mainly to the side and back of the knee!! I’ve rest d it a couple days and put ice packs on it and taken anti inflammatories. This evening I went for my next run and the pain has all started up again. Feels like my knee was going to give way! I stretch before hand and do the recommended 5 min warm up walk. Any advice?

Slow down and take it gently. Try these exercises too...

Thank you so much for the exercises! I’ll start them tomorrow!... also on this run I noticed both ankles are hurting too? ... I’m starting yoga tomorrow which I’ve been told should do me good? ... I’m really determined to do the couchto5k! Maybe I went in too hard too fast as at the same time I decided to walk 5 miles a day as well!

You’ll come through it. Then if you’re like me, the other will go next 🙄 Apparently it’s strength needed in thighs.

What did you do to resolve the issue?

I ignored all advice and ran through it. I iced, used a knee sleeve, and took ibuprofen an hour before a run. I came through it in a week or so. Not sure I should recommend that though. 😂

If you're still getting pain then you need to stop and rest until it's gone proper..never try and run through any pain, you probably need to slowdown, many go off too fast and get injured.. don't try and stretch cold muscles before running only afterwards..

Hi, I'm in the same boat! W3R1 with a brand new (very nice) pair of running shoes and my right knee is bothering me.. I do have a pre existing old ski injury and was aware my knee may flare up, (it was one of the reasons I've always avoided running) but I keep chugging Ibuprofen and make sure I don't go too fast.. I actually think my pain was brought on by wearing high heels on Saturday! I also think I'm tense and causing extra knee/thigh strain if that makes sense? I hope that by keeping mobile that will help and I'm going to try extra stretches/exercises too. Good Luck!
