Lovely setting and great route (home of the local ParkRun), but new to me. The varied route took us first around a playing field then along a paved track and onto tracks and grass in a large meadow/park which was really lovely. It was slightly uneven in places but much better than pounding roads. It was another warm day and rather humid but luckily a bit overcast. But I still got rather hot! My Garmin disagreed with the distance markers, and gave a final distance of 4.82, perhaps I cut some corners π. The last kilometre was a bit hard work - I definitely started off too quick so ran out of puff! Considering the heat, grassy route and recently recovering from tonsillitis I was really pleased with the time, which was around my usual for 5k π.
Race for Life is a very special event. Everyone there touched by this horrible disease, some recovering, some still fighting, some remembering a loved one. As I ran I thought about my dad who we lost a few years ago. Very strangely my race number included my dad's birthday 23rd October (1023)......miss you dad.

What a lovely post skysue! Glad you enjoyed your Race for Life - I suspect it was the course that wasnβt quite a full 5k rather than you cutting
corners, it does happen sometimes. And you did it on recovery from tonsillitis as well so double well done! Itβs a great cause - on my bucket list for next year when I can run it rather than walk. Happy running!
