So I'm only on week 2 and looking at the weather today I realise I've been lucky so far. It's made me think argh! What if it's raining on my planned run days?! Stupid question, I know, as I think the answer is run! I guess unless it's a monsoon out there you all still get out and do it? Any tips? I guess I end up a sweaty mess regardless so it's not that much difference?

Having said all that I do hope it's not raining tomorrow morning!

As a friend of mine said “you’re waterproof, it doesn’t matter”. I still run in the rain in my usual vest top and leggings. There are other posters who wear lightweight waterproof jackets. I’ve found that I actually prefer running in the rain, even when it’s very heavy rain. The only thing I need to fix is keeping the rain out of my eyes.

Thanks! That's a very good point about us being waterproof! As for water in the eyes, I wear glasses so maybe that will help? Although maybe I'll need wipers?! 😂

The only thing that worries me is my phone getting wet, but I have to take it for the app! But my husband assured me it’ll work just fine in a ziplock bag so if it rains I’ll give that a go. Still trying to hold off buying kit just in case 😬

I got a running belt from eBay, it was only 4 pound I think. Its like a bum bag but really thin and has a hole for your headphones to come out of, perfect for me 😁

Yes, that’s just what I need - but I’m trying to be virtuous so that when I buy running shoes it won’t seem so bad! 😂

Yes, better and more colourful running shoes is my carrot on a stick for this too! 😁

I started last December, so I ran in everything weather-wise. The only real pain I’ve found is ice on the path or really excess heat. Everything else just melds into the experience. Ice underfoot & full-on sticky heat are best avoided, as they are health hazards. And I skip monsoon-with-wind if I can see another opportunity. I already had a hi-viz rain jacket from cycling & I wear that for visibility in real rain but it does get a bit warm.... You just need a good clean in the shower after rain, oddly enough. 😄👍

Thanks for the advice! I think I would be too hot in a jacket so will just brave it I think, I imagine it will feel quite refreshibg? I'll let you know tomorrow! 😁

Sunday I ran in the rain for the first time (actively avoided it up til now) it was really refreshing. Just out in my vest top and crop tights. The temp was still in the 20's so no jacket required. I wear a baseball cap to keep the worst of the rain off my glasses.

A baggy is still work considering as your belt may not be water proof.

Not sure I would do rain if it's really windy but won't avoid it so much in future :)

That's good to know thanks! Well it's only drizzle out there now so hopefully it won't get worse by tomorrow morning! My belt is under my t shirt so hopefully it'll be ok if it's not waterproof but I think it is.
