Have just completed week 4, although I struggled with the 5 minute runs I did them. Just looked at what week 5 has in store and really can’t see how I’ll be able to run for 20 mins when 5 was a struggle 🤔 I am panicking I will fail next week and up until now I’ve felt good, I’ve lost 1st 6lbs so far and really want to be able to keep going .... anyone felt similar going from week 4 to 5?
Week 5: Have just completed week 4, although I... - Couch to 5K
Week 5
Don't worry people do panic a bit when they see wk5r3 but don't, all the runs you have done up until now will have prepared you for it just go slow . You can do it 😊😊
I felt exactly the same, but somehow, running for 20 minutes seemed easier as a block! Just take it slow and you will do it! X
I struggled with the 5 mins runs last week, but today did run2 of week5, which is 2 lots of 8 mins! I still can't believe that it's possible. Do I think I can do the 20 minute run? No! , but I will give it my best shot. So far I didn't think I' d be able to move on, but I did every week and completed every run. As the mantra seems to be on here " trust the programme " Now runs are getting longer, I found listening to music helps as a bit of distraction. You can do it !
You CAN do it. Most of us looked and gulped and thought ah ah, never, no way, and then we tried and did it. I know I emailed my friend and said there was no way I could do it, yet here I am on the Bridge to 10k programme. Trust yourself, the programme and even the forum (we run them all with you vicariously). Take it slow and steady and you've got it !
I really struggled with week 4 but found week five easier for some reason. I’ve completed wk5r3 today, the first 8 minutes were hard but then it suddenly got easier. Give it a go, you can always go back but you might not have to.
I thought the same, no way I can make 20 minutes, but I did, it wasn't easy, but at the beginning I kept thinking "just repeat what you did last run" and when I had reached 10 minutes "just repeat what you just did" and soon it was "come on, just 5 minutes left!!" and then it was over and I wanted to keep going!
Thank you for your replies everyone you have made me feel much better about it! I will let you know how i get on at the end of next week 😊 x
I’ve just done W4 R3 so like you have had a peak at W5. Last week I felt the same looking forward to W4, five minutes - no way, but I really enjoyed W4 R3 so have decided that instead of worrying about W5, I’m going to get really excited and look forward to it instead. 13 months ago I had a triple bypass, and four months ago a kidney transplant. At some points I never thought i’d get out of hospital let alone be well on my way to running 5k.
Oh I think we all felt similar going into week 5. Trust the programme and take it nice and steady and, trust me, you'll be able to do it! Anyhow, if you don't manage it, it's not a fail... it's an additional prep run.
Just treat it as any other run. The programme will have prepared you for it, so it is the gremlins trying to tell you that it is too difficult. You have done fantastically well so far, so don’t belittle your progress. You WILL be really for it by the the time you get there. We’re all cheering you on! Let us know how you get on. 😊
Keep going - have just done my w5r3 and it did feel a bit like stepping off into the unknown, but my tips wd be : try not to overthink it b, slow right down c, just start and try to keep moving until someone tells you to stop!!
Hi everyone thank you for all your advice and encouragement, just to say I did it, completed week 5 run 3 this morning and although I found it hard going, I did it 😊
