Eek! Just looked at Week 5!! 😧

I completed Week 4 yesterday and am due to start Week 5 tomorrow. I nearly fainted when I read R2 and R3!!!! Run for 8 mins? Run for 20 mins? I’ve just about been able to complete R3 of W4 and I’m wobbly and gasping at the end, so there’s no way I’m ready to go onto Week 5. What I don’t want to do is try it, find I can’t do it and feel disillusioned and disappointed in myself. I think I’m going to repeat Week 4. Has anyone else found W5 mighty scary?

Try relaxing and reading this healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and if that doesn't convince you then follow the link in that post to the post about mental approach.

You can do this.

Thanks so much! I’ve read both articles and I will go for it tomorrow morning 😁 I will let all know how I get on. 👍🏼

Totally remember these feelings, but you can do it, it’s not a race, there’s no time to beat, slow and steady; if you’re gasping for breath then you’re running a little too fast. Slow down complete the running time speed can be built up and worked upon at a later date. X

Its ok. I was just like you but have just completed week 6 which was running for 25mins. Couldnt run to the end of the road weeks ago.

I remember it being scary and I didn’t do r3 the first time and stopped at 10 mins but that was a mental decision not physical. You CAN do it. Slow and steady. The only person you are trying to beat is your own mind telling you can can’t do it. Slow and steady. 🏃🏻‍♀️ If I can do it (overweight, over 40, hasn’t exercised in 20 years) you can do it 💪🏻🏃🏻‍♀️

Felt exactly the same. You will truly surprise yourself. Just go at a pace that works for you. Go for it 😉🏃‍♀️

It's all in your head.

W4r3 is 16 minutes running and 15.5 minutes walking.

W5r1 is 15 minutes running and 16 minutes walking (so it's easier than W4r3)

W5r2 is 16 minutes running and 15 minutes walking (about same as W5r1)

W5r3 is 20 minutes running and 10 minutes walking (so it's shorter than W5r2).

That was me two weeks ago, and I was pleasantly surprised when I did it. Just pick a nice, easy pace and you'll be fine. As I discovered when I completed the first 25 min run yesterday, it actually is always possible to go slower... 😉

What are you doing peeking before the runs? That's like reading the last chapter when you start a book! The program works. It's carefully thought out and builds you up so you can do it when you get there. Your biggest help will be to learn to take it slowly. You can keep going longer if you go slow. You will be amazed. Just go for it. You can do it!
