Cold weather Running……..

Hi all just a little advice please ….. I’ve surprised myself by continuing to run into the not so nice weather! I’ve completed C25K twice and this time I’m determined not to give up because it’s cold and wet! Currently I’m running 3 times a week for 30-40 minutes and I would like it to stay the same.I don’t like being too warm whilst running.I’m still in leggings and a short sleeved top. I’ve bought a couple of cap’s because it’s a nightmare in the rain, I wear glasses. I nearly bought a thinner running jacket yesterday but changed my mind because I don’t wear the one I’ve got but I tried to convinced myself the new one was thinner. 🏃‍♀️😄

Its a problem for sure! My jacket is paper thin. I look really comical once it gets wet and plastered to me. 🌧️ I'm sure someone will post some good advice.👍

This FAQ Post about cold weather running may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

It is all very individual and experimentation will show you the way.

thanks as always hope you are as well as you can be ! Interesting read I’ve bought a thinner running jacket whether it will be worn or not remains to be seen !? You once told me I was a runner noticing what was around me …. Sunrise ! Now I notice the moon in the sky at 6am 😄

Hi! I'm sitting on my couch rather moist after just coming in from a wet run. I have a thin yellow florescent jacket that gives a little protection from the elements, but it still soaked through - just a thought... experiment with your current 'thin' jacket and tie it round your middle if you get too hot?

Hi 445600 , there was a thread yesterday about running in the winter months; you might find it helpful: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

As far as running jackets are concerned, I very rarely wear one. Had to buy one that met specific criteria for windproofing and breathability for an event I did though, so maybe it'll come back out again this winter!

Tim's link to the FAQ post is indeed super-helpful. I was referring to a forum thread though, different link and different content 😀

My top half is going to get wet almost regardless of the weather. Wet in itself isn’t a problem to me. What I try to avoid is getting wet and cold at the same time. Sometimes that means wearing two shirts, and occasionally I need to wear my thin waterproof jacket. That applies to running. Then there are the warm up and warm down phases. I sometimes take my waterproof jacket, tied around my waist by the sleeves, so that I can put it on if I feel the need. On long runs in remote areas, it is probably wise to carry an emergency foil blanket, just in case you pick up an injury and need to wait for rescue.

It feels odd and hot the first few times you wear it, but on cold wet days I quickly got used to it. I haven’t worn mine since last winter.
