I am about to start week 5 (not thinking about run 3).
Strangely, I sometimes want to go running on my rest day. Would I ruin my progress if I did go?
It's not like me to be enthusiastic about exercise.

No don't think about run 3 of week 5, just enjoy yourself running π π. Do not go running on your rest day.
No running on rest days, you can walk , swim or cycle or something similar as long as it's not running π
Do read the FAQ Posts on the right.
The programme involves the non-running days as much as the running days. The non-running days are when your body prepares for the next run, and give you an opportunity to develop an all round fitness programme (because you don't have to do no exercise, just not high impact) The aim of the programme is for you to develop the ability and habit of running continuously for 30 minutes, so it works on those who tend to overdo as well as those who lack confidence.
Heehee, you've got the running bug, brilliant! And no, you can't run on your rest days.
You would not ruin your progress by running on a rest day, but you would ruin your progress if you got injured.
When you run the impact creates microtears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running.
No rest, no repair, no strengthening, therefore increased injury risk.
This is all explained in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Take care.
