Well, I am up and I am dressed in my running gear. Was so worried that I would oversleep! It's going to be a hot one but going to take it slow and steady and walk bits if needed. Wish me luck! πŸ€ πŸƒ

Edited to add photo! 5k done! ☺

It was great, I had to pluck up courage too but I really recommend it!

Brilliant, I will work on my courage and hopefully try one in a few weeks!

OOH! Firsts are always exciting!! Have a fantastic time on your first Parkrun Debston. It is on my list when I finally graduate (on the IC at week 9, can you believe it!!). I have a bit of a trek to the nearest one. Hope you don't have to go too far? Have fun!!

Oh no, hope you're off the IC very soon! I'm lucky that my nearest Parkrun is only 10-15 minutes away by car, depending on the traffic. And it's a beautiful setting!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Well done πŸ‘

Have a great run Debston And enjoy ✌

Good luck to you Debston for your first parkrun this morning, you sound so excited for it, like a child on Christmas morning opening up it's presents.

Just take the run at the same pace as you took your graduation run. πŸƒ 😊 πŸ‘

Have fun and enjoy! I did 2 but a long time ago. I felt fabulous for finishing even though I didn't run the whole way. Just being there with other people is so inspiring.

Thanks guys and oh my god, it was brilliant! I was so nervous about doing it which I knew was silly but still felt anxious. But it was a brilliant atmosphere, really friendly and plenty of slow runners and walkers. To my amazement, I ran the whole 5k, longest run ever for me and did it in about 48 minutes - haven't got my official time yet. The route was so beautiful, through woods at Bedgebury Pinetum and not as uphill as I had thought. I was very grateful for the shade from all the trees, beautiful morning but hot for running. The best thing was the lovely volunteers who all clapped and cheered us on - that really helped me to keep going. Feel like a million dollars now!

πŸ˜‚ I'm not planning to move again all weekend! Good luck for your Parkrun next weekend. And be sure to tell us how it goes!

Well done! I am a 17 Parkrun Veteran now and love it. I think if you ran at 6min per K you will be surprised at your time. Much faster than you think....Maybe you did not turn your app off for a bit after?

Debston profile image
DebstonGraduate in reply to Richyrunslow

You're right, my official time was slightly less at 46.59 πŸ˜‚ The mapmyrun is showing 6kmph, rather than 6 minutes to run 1km, sadly! Still, it's a PB for me, being my first one. I'm going to try and beat it next time!

That is brilliant! I hope you enjoyed it and that you are feeling suitably proud of yourself? It's a lovely day here in Wales so i hope it wasn't too hot for you wherever you were?

Hopefully you didn't see any squashed butterflies either? I'm hoping that wasn't an omen yesterday! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ¦‹

Debston profile image
DebstonGraduate in reply to Lindsey-joy

No squashed butterflies πŸ¦‹! Scorchio here in Kent but the shade of the trees helped a lot. Was a bit beetroot red by the end though!

Lindsey-joy profile image

I believe beetroot red is all the rage!

It really is. I see what all the fuss is about now! The volunteers were so lovely and supportive, made me feel really determined to keep running. Now I need to beat my pb!
