First ever Parkrun in the bag :)

Well after following the C25K and having not officially completed the weeks I entered my first Parkrun in Basingstoke yesterday - was very very nervous and even though I have run 5k on my own thought I would "lose it" with so many other runners about - on my own runs it taken me almost an hour but I romped home in 37 mins :) cant say I have the running bug quite yet but looking forward to knocking a minute or 5 off my PB - I so amazed myself 😁😁😁

Wow! I’m thinking of the park run by me but feel like I need to get better before I give it a try. I’m on week 8 and know I’ll be able to do 5k but doing it without looking like I’m about to die during the first 10 mins would be good!

Mega congrats

That was my worry - that I would stand out with all my huffing and puffing and my not so stylish running style - but honestly don't think anyone notices - all too busy running their own race 😁

That's a great pace. Park runs are just that, runs not races, and some even walk.

I did the 5 mins warm up walk on my first which was my graduation run.

Well done on yours , rest up and once you graduate sounds like you will have a new focus πŸ‘

Well done on parkrun.

Your lack of running bug might well be overcome by following a structured training plan for beginners, which gently builds your stamina and gives you the satisfaction of completeing something.

Just because you can run 5k does not mean that you should be doing so. The slow and steady that we stress is for good scientific reasons as laid out in this post healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Pay particular attention to the two linked stories at the end.

Take care.

Think I got carried along with the others- tried to keep up with a really sweet dog doing his 5k and did for most of the way πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•

As Ianodeatruffe said - just be careful. You have already posted that you have achilles tendonitis........

Whilst you have achieved, I can't help thinking too much too soon (hope I'm wrong).

Am happy for all the advise I can get...but spookily the only thing NOT aching today is my Achilles - maybe it is being masked by everything else aching 🀣
