Week 1 run 2

Just completed 2nd run. Calf’s felt really tight after 3rd short run, but I plodded on. Didn’t have son tuning with me today so had to motivate myself 🙄 I think I swallowed a few midges as the pesky things were out in force!! Will do next run on Friday after rest tomorrow-I hope my legs survive? I feel really heavy on my feet, is this usual when you first start? When does it settle to give me more spring in my step? 🏃‍♂️😊

Well done.

Make sure you stretch, as per guide to the plan, straight after every run, while muscles are warm and supple. This will avoid carrying those tensions into the next run.

Just try to land as lightly as you can.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try and land lighter 😬 now I know why my mothers nickname for me when I was small was “fairy elephant” 🤣😂😂

I'm at the same stage and my left foot aches while running and then my left calf aches? I seem to be able to run through it. What stretching exercises should we do?

I’ve only done the 5 minute cool down, is there a specific one for calf stretching? 🙆‍♀️

Oh the calfs! (or should that be calves 🤔!)

Yes i can sympathise. I had this until week 4 but stretching really well afterwards helped. It suddenly lessened by week 5 for me.

As for the midges.....great source of protein and very low in calories! 🤔

I was like that last week. Just completed 1st run of week 2 and calfs much better. Lots of stretching when you finish and an ice pack helped. Keep going .
