Week 2 - Week 3, easy or hard?

Hello everyone!

I’ll be doing my last week 2 run tomorrow morning and just wondered how everyone found the transition from week 2 to week 3?

I had a little look at it and I’m quite nervous to be running for a full three minutes when this week has seemed quite tough.

I have a few days yet until I’ve got to do it but just wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts :)

Hi Dani, I found the transition from w2 to w3 ok actually. The best tip I can give you (and there will be people on here infinitely more qualified to give advice than me! :-) ) is not to focus on the length of runs in upcoming weeks - focus on the run itself, your pace, your breathing, the scenery etc and you will find that each run comes to an end before you expected.

Either way, enjoy it :-)

I did wk3r1 on Monday and was not looking forward to it as I d struggled a little bit with wk2. However I was very pleasantly surprised and actually found it easier than lots of short runs. Advice I had from others was to slow it down which definitely helped. I’m sure I was going very slow but pace will improve as I get fitter I’m sure. Good luck and hope it goes well. If I can do it anyone can.

Wk3r2 for me tonight. Go us!

You will be ready - just take it nice and slow! I found it best not to look forward so I couldn’t ‘worry’ about a run. So much of this is in our heads, c25k is taking care of the physical possibilities, it’s our inner voice that causes problems. And even if you start on the week and find it too tough, that’s ok, just go back and do w2r3 one or two more times and you’ll get there. This is training not a race, so it’s the doing that counts. Just focus on the positive, and get into your slow running rhythm and you’ll be fine!

Try not to worry about time or distance Dani and enjoy what you're doing and your surroundings as phillipsdj said, especially this time of the year when we've got nice weather. Remember you never need to be doing more than slowly jogging, rather than 'running' so to speak. If you find any runs a challenge you can always re-do them, but you're certainly capable of whatever week 3 brings up, and I look forward to hearing posts from you on how you get on. 😊

I hope you look back on this post when you graduate from the C25K and are running for 30 minutes at a time, that's 10 times what you'll be running next week!

Hi Dani. I struggled with 1&2, did week 1 twice actually. Then I settled down and loaded the podcast, which includes music and Laura’s words.I read through some of Iannoda Truffes FAQ posts, which answer most of the questions you haven’t even thought of yet. Then I watched Japanese Slow Running Man on YouTube. I tried really hard to copy his speed , stance, foot position etc., through week three and right up to now. Week 3 really did seem easier cos you only have a few runs. The brisk walk in between is just as important as the jogging though, so do that well too!

Do be careful though, this or next week there is a danger that you might just begin to enjoy doing this. I was most surprised to find that. I am happily looking forward to my second run of week 9 tomorrow morning.

Do your homework and enjoy your week. You Runner You!
