Bit of an obstacle course, avoiding puddles and trying not to slip in the mud. First 5 minutes were hideous with a steep uphill slog. But I managed to pick up my pace a bit on the less squelchy bits and have done 3km for the first time, well chuffed with that.

Week 8, Run 2 - squelchy mud fest!
Well done you, rather you than me going uphill to start with 😲
That would put me off for the rest of the run. Only done pavement running for all 9 weeks, can’t see me doing treadmill but might try off track in future runs. 3Km is a great target to reach 👍
Thanks! It was a lesser of two evils thing. My regular route in the woods gives me the option of an early uphill bit and then the joy of running gently downhill for the rest of it. Or slow and steady uphill for nearly the whole route! Which I really don't enjoy very much. 😅 I try to avoid pavements for running as I worry about my old knees. I like the woods because I don't usually see many people and it's nice to feel at one with Mother Nature - and her stupid hills!
Like your strategy, good call!
Round my way we have some nice long roads. Would have to get in the car to go to a park.
Must admit my knees have been fine, my old running shoes were cushioned but not as much as the Cumulus ones. I did have a cracked patella years ago and not a flinch since. tbh that is why I had the gait test before coming a cropper.
Ergh. Serious mud. Well done for pushing on regardless. A true Runner in the making, obvs. 👍👏🏼
Thanks, Granspeed. Feeling it in my legs now!!!
Ah yes. That happens. ☹️ Take it gently and the legs should recover on your rest day.
