1st park run

I did it. Ran w5r2 without stopping which took me just over halfway and completed it by doing w1 intervals which got me home. I feel great. Started with the 5 min warm up from the start. Resisted the need to run as I was being left behind which was the right decision as I caught back up and overtook some in my first 8 min run. Yes it was hard but then I felt strong at the end and almost like a proper runner as I sprinted (sort of) over the line to come in 467th

Well done to you. I did my 2nd parkrun this morning on week 9 run 2 and I can totally relate to that feeling of being left behind by starting with the warm up walk. No idea where I placed. Assume 195th as had token 195, but I don’t know how many people were there altogether today. Strava has me nearly 4 mins faster than last week though. Such an amazing feeling isn’t it? And the marshals cheering you on really helps!

I only know where I came because my 8 year olds first question was "where did you come dad, its on the token." He is a seasoned runner on his 8th junior park run tomorrow and a pocket rocket his pb being under 10mins for 2k. I enjoyed it though, roll on next week, but first its that w5r3 to do.

Oh wow you did it! You made your first park run this morning. I am

So pleased for you! I had planned to do my first one this morning but I bottled it because I am still on interval running and I saw some rather competitive results from the previous weeks park run! I am on week 5 this week and maybe next Saturday will be the day for me to try out park run. So pleased for you. So are you going to park run next week aswell?

Yes I will do it as part of c25k every week now. Don't worry about the other runners just stick to the plan, knowing that it is working. You're encouraged all the way round and even some of the runners at the front will acknowledge you as they come the opposite way if your run.is set up like that.

Ignore the competitive runners. There will be other people here doing intervals and people walking it, people with kids etc. At my local parkrun this morning there were quite a few running intervals.
