So I did the last of week 7 this morning. Got up got dressed into running stuff straight away and out the door at 05:15. I don’t know why it was so tough but to date, this was the toughest one. I remember stopping for about 20 seconds back in week 1 of one of my runs. (Having to stop on a 60 second run seems barmy that I had to now) but on this run my legs felt like jelly at about 22 minutes so I walked. Literally for about 30 seconds then thought let’s go again and finally finished. Throughout all I kept hearing in my mind over and and over again was stop and walk do it tomorrow your getting out of breath now your legs are jelly. Do these long runs get easier because I mentioned before at about week 4 that I had not hit a brick wall but this was a real struggle and I’m struggling. The feeling afterwards was great although I did feel that I cheated with that walk. I tell you where my thoughts are now. I’m not looking forward to the next run, but I am, if you know what I mean. Bit down. Happy Wednesday. 😞🤨🏃‍♂️

Don’t be disheartened! You still ran! Can I not tempt you with another look at this?

Even if you think you’re running slowly or even running JSJ style already - it’s worth rewatching this and getting the technique down, as it really will help with the longer durations!

I have experienced the same today wk 7 run 2! I completed r1 on Monday but today I had to stop twice as I had a pain in my shoulder and stitch! I too like you feel a bit deflated about stopping but hey at least we can run for nearly 25 minutes 😊 remember when we couldn't run for long back in the beginning! I figure I will just keep repeating wk 7 until I can do it a few times without stopping. We can do this 😊

Might be simply what you ate or drank yesterday or any number of things! But next time will be better and you can do it - some days are just like that Keep running - remember why you started?

Someone once said to me that there's no such thing as a bad run, because you got out there and gave it a go.. so it's got to be a positive over all! But, I know how you feel. I had my best run yet last Sunday, then such heavy legs like lead yesterday. My tip to just get through is to slow down, even slower than you think. Just keep your legs going. The link that DiscoRunner posted above is the one that gave me the confidence to go slow and focus on endurance primarily instead of speed. It worked to get me all the way through the programme.

Don't worry. There are better days ahead! You're doing fantastically well to get this far, and you know some days are definitely easier than others. Stay strong!

Well done Mullinz on doing as much as you did. Chalk it up and crack on, you know you can! But 0515?😱!

Aye. It’s before the family wakes up really so I’m back by 6am to sort coffees and breakfast before heading off to work. More importantly though it’s early enough so no one is about and they can’t see me. I’m a bit like that. Thanks for the comments they really do keep inspiring me to push on. First run of week 8 tomorrow I mean week 8 that means all going well and staying with the every other day run rule I should graduate Monday 13th May. 🏃‍♂️🤨👍😁

Don’t be down....positive thinking it was just a “not so good” run and we have all had them, I know I have. It still happens now and depends on a few things, have you had enough rest days (sometimes I have two), lots of water the day before your run, good nights sleep and think of the food you eat which will fuel you.

I run as soon as I get up but try to have a filling meal the night before (ie pasta etc) rather than a light meal.

Check the video from DR as it works and you may need to reduce your pace....if your struggling. Doesn’t matter how fast you go it’s finishing that’s the main thing.

Now get your running shoes on and say “I can do this” as you go out of the door !

Bet you will and it feel better than the last run.

Not what you're looking for?
