First run of w5 in the bag 😁 and I can't wait to do my next run! Finally I think I've found my mojo, and it feels great. You lot have helped here, Reading all your achievements definitely is inspiring me!

Now my head is in the right place at last... And hopefully it stays there I just need to sort out my diet as I really need to loose weight and I haven't lost anything yet I don't think, although I do feel fitter and like a tiny amount of fat from around my middle is shrinking lol, any tips for this would be greatly received. I have started drinking more water to help with my hydration and hopefully not be as hungry. 🐷Drank loads of water yesterday, down side to this needing the loo every hour lol.

I know the feeling. Great that you still feel you have more fuel in the tank. Bottle it for W5R3! 😀

That’s just brilliant! And running is particularly good at shifting the tummy visceral fat - not fast but effective. There is a weight loss forum on Health Unlocked, so if you want some structure and support that might be good.

I’m a bit wary of diets now - having dieted myself fat over the last 10 years! If you have any easy wins - like sugar & refined carbs - get them out of your life if you can! Or substantially reduce them - and try and have some days where you have no sugar at all. And just eat loads more veg! I’m gradually reducing my portion sizes (well mostly, but that Sunday roast was not small!), no alcohol during the week. I’ve been losing weight with the running, you just have to accept it will be very slow without significant dietary changes. I’ve been listening to a lot of episodes of the Feel Better Live More podcasts while running and trying to take healthier choices that chime from those. The slow running I do doesn’t make me want to eat more, which is great, and I think it’s even reducing my appetite a bit. The most amazing side effect for me of the running has been the turning off of my internal self-critical voice (a nagging negative narrative of self recrimination - which didn't help motivate me in any bloody way!), and I am *so* glad that’s gone. Whether that’s because I’m doing something positive properly (rather than trying something and quitting), or the endorphins from running, or both, that’s really helping me to stay focused on small positive changes rather than chase another fad. And I feel so much better now - stronger and just generally a feeling of all round wellness. And I finally feel the weight I have lost (nearly a stone), I’ve run off & it feels more permanent! Although there’s another 2 or 3 I’d like to shift! The other mistake I made in the past was dieting without exercise. I’ve been reading up on this and a core part is if you diet without exercising your body will shed its muscle rather than fat - which leads to a slower metabolism as our muscles are an engine that drives that. We burn more calories, even while resting, the more muscle we have. So, as we run, we’re building muscle (on those rest days - along with more bone cells & all sorts of other amazing stuff), and so slowly shifting out metabolisms back to a faster rate - that we lowered by dieting & not exercising! Sorry for the long response! Hope it’s helpful! x

Thank you that really was very helpful I have actually cancelled my ww as I wasn't getting anywhere fast, and I've felt for a while I need to make changes but wasn't sure where to start I guess, which was one of the reasons for starting th c25k in the first place. I do try to eat as fairly healthy but I know I still need to make more changes and I'm now feeling bit more confident to make them 😁x
