By some miracle and pure stubbornness I completed the first run of the week. I need to find better routes, but can't yet do very well with inclines. I now wear a breathable cap, which has really helped as I look up every now and then, but just focus on getting my head down and running. I would like to get to a point where I can absorb what is around me more and enjoy it. I'm just not at that stage yet, but run on!!! πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸπŸ‘Š

Well done! I know what you mean about putting your head down....hopefully we’ll eventually get to a point where we feel comfortable enough to relax and take in the view 😁

Let's hope so, I guess it's just part of the process! I feel like I'm in an isolated bubble when I run, just pure focus and grit! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜

I did my w5r1 yesterday after work when it was dark. Wasn’t sure what that would be like, but I think it helped as I couldn’t see where I was going or how far I still had to go! I too would like to get to the point where I can enjoy looking around and take in the scenery. Bad weather forecast for tomorrow so think r2 will be Thursday... Keep going ! 😁

I see why you like the run in the dark, some roads feel like the road to hell, particularly when they're long and never ending! 😁 Keep going! I'm going to attempt wk5 r2 tomorrow, which I know is already going to be challenging as its 8 mins!

You are doing great, sounds like you are going for speed, there is the option to slow down and look around πŸ˜‰

Lol...me and speed don't go together like salt and pepper I'm afraid. My runs are slow and steady, because that's the stage I'm at, but hopefully as I lose weight, I fly like a gazelle! Ha! That's my dream anyway!! πŸ˜‚

We are all flying free of that couch. Wonderful feeling of freedom. Enjoy

Sounds to me like you are rushing! 😱 Can you chat as you run - even with yourself? Or at least say Hi to a passing bird/dog/snail? 🀣 Really, you’ll build stamina just as well if not better by running slowly as by trying to outdo Mo and Co just yet. Glad you finished the run πŸ‘πŸΌ but could be time to reread that pinned post by IannodaTruffe for Newbies that explains about an β€œeasy, conversational pace.” All training takes effort, of course. We are trying to push ourselves onward. But you don’t want an injury on the way! Invoke your inner tortoise and beat the hare in the end. 🐒

I can't rush, I run slow and steady, that's my stage. I prefer flat terrain for now as that again is my stage. I do talk to myself, usually trying to convince myself that I AM going to keep going!! I try and say hello to folks, but I'm usually so focused that I zone out! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜
