Week 3 Completed

So I have completed week 3 of C25K. Doing this as a bit of a health kick as haven’t done any major exercise in 13 years and frankly my weight is creeping up. Really struggling but hoping the exercise will encourage me to eat better too and stop binging on chocolate.

Hi. Just read your profile, too.

If you are of obese BMI, please run with extra caution. It can be very demanding to your joints as it is weight bearing exercise.

Can I advise you to focus more on your eating. I don't say that you should not run. But please very much listen to your body. Any ache, discomfort, rest it out. When you get to a lower weight, you can go for more serious runnings.

In the meantime, if you do run, make sure you are wearing the proper shoes, running on softer surface than road. In the FAQ you can find lots of useful bits of information.

Thank for your concern. I think everyone needs to be careful of injury for running. Warming up and cooling down properly. And yeah I have proper shoes. Obese is a strong word and I only consider myself obese in BMI. In reality 13 stone is an unhealthy weight but not one that stops me exercising

I'm obese and have just started Week 7. I'm now less obese than I was a few weeks ago and feeling a lot fitter! Good luck with it all and keep posting about your progress. I love the support on here and it's great that not all of us are natural athletes, just making some healthy, sustainable lifestyle improvements.

I can only support you in your exercises. And if you are doing the running with care and listening to your body, then it should be fine. On the rest days it is advised to do other types of exercises, you can check the Strength and Flex section on this forum, too.

Well done on working on turning your health around! I’m always banging on about this, but it could really suit you m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2...

It’s a low impact running technique designed to avoid injury, you run very slowly, small stride, landing on your mid foot. If you can make running part of your life, and maybe you need to repeat an early week or two to build some strength and stamina, it will be transformational. Your body and mind will both benefit.

If you’re looking for interesting and inspirational info about a healthier lifestyle I really recommend Feel Better Live More podcasts, they’re full of practical ways to make healthier choices.

Well done! I've just done w3 r3, finding it quite challenging but very pleased with myself for keeping going. I'm also doing this to get fitter and hopefully loose some weight. I run in the morning and find it helps me make better food choices in the day as I don't want to undo my good work!

I need to run first thing just to make sure I do it. If I leave it to future me it never happens!

Haha, I can so relate. Future Me is a reckless idiot. I tend to run straight after school run in the morning and then spend rest of the day feeling smug! 😂

W3 well done! I’m on W4 and still loving it. It’s addictive and it does encourage you to eat better without realising you are doing it x
