just thought I would check in and update. I am about to commence week 4! I am enjoying it and have no knee pain (twinges yes but they haven’t stuck around). I am enjoying it but mostly struggle with leaving the house, lots of procrastination (can take an hour of getting dressed and tiring about) and once even managed to postpone a run by 3 days 😂 . I haven’t been kind enough to myself to get the clothes / kit ready the night before, I think this will help, I am guilty of not doing the things that will actually help me but if I can just do this I think it will help get me out the door. The runs have been good, just right, not too hard, not too easy - I am in love with the slow jog, it’s suits me perfectly. So Week 4 here come and then battle of Maintaining my motivation and self discipline 🤞💪👍
update - week 3 complete! : just thought I would... - Couch to 5K
update - week 3 complete!
Here you are welcoming in week 4! You’re now a third of the way through. 👏👏
You describe what a lot of us feel from time to time . But don’t give up on you!
Remember you are enjoying it when you get there . And you’ve given yourself a really good answer- get those things ready the night before, get straight into them and get out there !!! Xxx
Awesome! Yes, the hardest thing is often the 2 cm threshold at the door of your house!
I love the Görsn Winblad video that talks about this biggest barrier to getting your runs in. He’s got a 10 min rule which helps
But preparing your cloth definitely helps as well!
And I’m here procrastinating as well! I’ll stop writing and start running!
Well done, you!!! Champion! You’ve conquered the biggest gremlin which sits on that threshold!
You are now a runner 🏃🏾♀️ 💪….I find it very helpful to get my kit out the night before then it’s up and out when I wake usually around dawn ……it’s like a cheat code for my day ahead then i can go to work happy that Ive done my exercise for the day …keep up the good work and if I can offer any advice don’t hesitate to ask 👍
Awesome job getting to week 4…
I graduated years ago and got to half marathons, then had a baby and it got kind of impossible for a while. Back to it, on week 2 just now.
My advice (based on previous experience!) is be kind to yourself - check in with yourself and if you feel ok - go for it. I have started going in the morning- I am not a morning runner really but i just set alarm and have running stuff right next to bed to jump up and get changed into and have a coffee and some water and off I go. Gets it out of the way early doors, I don’t give myself time to procrastinate and it is done for the day by 7am. I appreciate it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea though and frankly not sure if it is mine yet but I am trying to be consistent..!
When I ran previously- I used to say to myself - just put trainers and running gear on and just get out of the door and if I don’t feel like it , i can just come back. Much like the above video posted - hardest bit was getting out of the door and I never regretted going out and never came straight back in! It literally is getting out the door that feels like the struggle…!!
Good luck, keep going for you - your body and mind will thank you for it.
Brilliant! Welcome toyour week 4 on your amazing running journey. You are doing brilliantly 👍🏃♀️🏃♀️😂
🍏Such great advice and helpful videos for us all. When I started my C25K journey and battled to get going out that front door I would say to myself.. I will go and do the 5 min walk and get some fresh air and see how I feel… inevitably it led to continuing into the run. This is still my mantra when it’s foul weather, or I have had a bad night, or I just don’t feel like running, or, or…. Find a mantra that works for you!
It is hard to stay motivated sometimes. Try running in a group or with another friend. They help to motivate you! I also put my running clothes out the night before. Tell yourself “you can do this!”
Well done! I did my first run of week four last night. Oft it felt like a jump and i am sore today but to say i am now running 16mins in total is a long way from struggling with week 1 runs! Good luck!
