That’s what the little girl said as I shuffled by. ‘She’s walking but fast walking’, the man replied. So I guess I was definitely going slow today 😂
Decided to attempt a morning run for the first time ever, hoping to avoid the worst of the heat. Left at 11 n even then it was 20/21 degrees, which I have now decided is the absolute highest temperature I will be running in as I came back with the beginnings of a headache n I know it’s not from dehydration
Took it very slow but still managed to do around the same distance with a pace a good 30 seconds slower. Now looking forward to some cooler weather so I can see how far I get when I don’t need to keep my pace down so much
Have a great Easter weekend everybody!

Ha ha ! Daddy obviously needs glasses 🤓 as we all know your a runner. It’s a warm one today isnt it and I ran at 7am and thought it was warm then. Hopefully your headache goes and you have a lovely Easter 🐣
Thanks, it’s easing off now I’ve cooled down thankfully 😅
Honestly I can’t say that I did enjoy it. I don’t do well in the heat, especially if I exert myself, so it just became painfully obvious that I need to run when it’s cooler. I’m hoping it’ll ease as I lose weight as I swear it’s the fat that keeps the heat in 😂 I’m a bit nervous to try running first thing though as my blood sugar tends to drop if I don’t eat regularly. Might try it n have a banana before I go though n take my emergency raisins with me 🏃♀️😂
Hi...I prefer morning runs...definately will be in July and August as it hits over 40 dégrée heat early here....not put that one to the test yet.
After some kind advice on here I have 5/6 almonds and 500 ml of water which seemed to give me enough fuel for my week 8 runs. May need a few more this week for week 9!!
Thanks hun....feels like im looking at the finish line. Im not too bothered about distance....just feels good and healthy to be running, which you are doing in style.
I know exactly what you mean, I’m really chuffed with the change in my fitness levels. Never thought i’d be looking forward to being able to run 5k and beyond 😃🏃♀️
you and me. Went out yesterday (early) but it warmed up really quickly. I ended up looking like a lobster and barely moving at all probably static at one point but hey we were out there strutting our stuff good for usx
It’s just too much isn’t it?! If we have any really hot spells I’ll be confined to the couch, I can look like a lobster in winter 😂😂 But yes you’re right, at least we’re out there 😁
yep I luckily did my earlier runs in the cold and yes heavy fog would you believe, but then had to take on the longer runs in the heat. HATE heat I go red just thinking about it and my body dies on me every time...keep going let me know how the next week goesx
I started in the cold weather n really enjoyed my runs. It’s not just the lobster redness for me, it’s the blood pounding round my head if I exert myself, that then turns into ever worsening headache that no tablets can defeat 😩 I think I was an Eskimo in a former life 😂😂
I run across local fields, I’m sure it would be fine on my own, but my husband is happy to come with me. He’s been running for years. He sometimes runs ahead or fast walks next to me 😂
Fields sound nice! I’m always on my own though my daughter has plans to come with me. She’ll be off in the distance though, I’m far too slow for her 😂
The path I run is alongside a river n some trees, between where I live and a new housing estate. Some days it’s busy n sometimes I don’t see a soul. It’d probably be fine but I just don’t think it’s sensible to take the risk late in the day 😕
Happy Easter to you too! I agree that carrying extra weight does seem to worsen the heat... I've definitely noticed a marked improvement over the past 3 months. Hope you do too.
It most definitely is warm though - parkrun was a struggle this morning (I was actually wishing for rain on the second lap!) and it was definitely beginning to warm up as i left. Now I'm in the garden with my laptop and a nice iced ginger beer!
Am considering a long and slow on Monday as it's a day off - think I'll have to start at 7 though...
I go out at silly o'clock in the morning to avoid the heat of the day. Run from 0 deg up to 14 deg mornings so far. Must say I prefer the colder temps, once I am out of bed and get going anyway 😂
I definitely prefer the colder temperatures. I’m a bit nervous to run really early, my blood sugar tends to drop if I exert myself without plenty of food in my belly but if I get up early enough to do breakfast first n let it settle I’ll be too tired to run lol. Thinking I may try a banana first as that wouldn’t be too heavy on my stomach. I’m looking forward to the rain I’ve just seen on next week’s forecast now 😂
Ah SJR I am a night runner too but saw tonight was going to be 17 degrees at 9.00pm so went out about 9.00am. Even then at 14degrees it was hard work. I think we may need to get up in the middle of the night ( 5.30am ) to run in this heat!!!!
And you are most def a runner. You were faster than them walking and that’s called running. 😀
Happy Easter JCR. I just renamed you as JillCanRun. Don’t know where that came from in my head but I like it.
Well done for getting out so early! I was still asleep then lol, had a bad night then didn’t wake up till 9.15 😂 14 degrees sounds manageable, I think earlier runs are definitely the way to go
I was absolutely going faster than them, they were sitting on a bench 😂
I definitely like JillCanRun. I wonder if you had Jancanrun in the back of your mind somewhere, it’s very similar 🤔Happy Easter!
It’s not just the fluids, it’s the heat and resulting increase in blood pressure that causes the headache according to my research. If you reach the point where the blood is pounding round your head you should stop
It just made me laugh when he said it. N to think I used to be even slower 😂
