Well done! This will really help shift that visceral fat! Just go nice and slow! My first tip is Your brisk walk can be faster than your run! And I run this way m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2.... It’s a low impact running technique designed to avoid injury, and very good for those of us carrying a little extra baggage! Good luck - this is an amazing thing you are about to do. And a kind forum to answer any questions and cheer you on your way!
This is such a good video. Thank you for sharing - some great tips. Particularly the one where you should be able to talk while jogging. I m definitely this slow! But I am not so fussed about the speed now. Just want to get the confidence to do a 5k.
Just don’t worry about doing the 5k in 9 weeks. First we learn to run for hall an hour, then you consolidate that with (as many) 3x30 minute run a week you can, until it feels comfortable. That took me about an extra 6 weeks. But with this slow jogging technique I love the running. Then I added 5 mins to one run every week or so, and I ran a 5k in 45 mins. I mostly do 1x50 (or 60 if I’m really up for it!) and 2x30. I feel so much better - and have lost 4 1/2 inches from my waist, not quite below the magic 35 inches but getting there. I’m thinking long term too, so how I feel & core measurements after 6 months of running, 6 months from graduation etc. Bug really loving what this slow running is doing for mind & body!
Welcome ramau!

Do look at DiscoRunners link. She sent it to me when I started and it’s been one of the best pieces of advice I’ve had. That, and along with go slow and then slower 😉! Also do do do keep hydrated and stretch after - so important.
Enjoy your journey. Happy running 😊
