Question ?? Beginner !!

I've started jogging running like 2months who , I have a lot of energy and have always been very active since I was young, I jog in the outdoors and in the gym as well. In the gym I can do about 4 miles and outdoors I've done like 12 miles but I've noticed lately since I started jogging running my head feels swollen and I have been getting like a weird tingling feeling in face around the evening ,so I stopped jogging everyday and do it 3 times a week. I would do it everyday from stress and not to be home. But now I'm starting to think I shouldn't even jog that much maybe just twice a week. By the way I don't drink too much water since I've read it's bad to drink to much water. So I just drink when I'm physically thirsty. I'm a big worrier and didn't even want to post. But just want to know from experienced runners if they have experienced this ? Since I'm not a expert. Or haven't done any marathons or spoke to any profesional runners, any answers would be nice! Thanks!

Couple of things. Yes it is indeed bad to drink too much water. But too much is a lot. I mean a big lot. Ie it's pretty difficult to drink too much.

The strange sensation in your head sounds like something I sometimes get. I couldn't find a definitive answer as to the cause, with some saying it's just prickly heat from running, some saying it's a reaction to too much sweat, some saying it's just the nerves being over stimulated. All sorts of notions. None sounded scary though.

Thanks so it's not strange for me to get this type of swelling and is not swelling like I can't function it's a strange type of airy feeling lol, I think it's the oxygen but I like to know I'm not over doing it, and yeah I have a tendency to drink a lot of water and over due it so I just stick to (3) water bottles since that's what my weight can contain according to online forums .

Well I get through 2 x 500 ml bottles of very watered down lucazade in a single 2 hours session of martial arts training. That's just in those two hours. I reckon on a training day I must get through at least 5 litres of drinks.

Are you are that's normal ? That's alot for water ......

Perfectly normal. Most people don't drink enough.

When you've read how much you're supposed to drink, are you sure that wasn't your minimum requirements rather than your maximum limit? I've never heard of anyone being advised to limit their water intake before.

To drink too much, assuming you are generally in good health and with a good diet, you'd have to literally drink until you were in pain, then drink some more. Then most likely you'd just puke it back up, because the body has built in mechanisms for dealing with situations like that and puking is one of them. For that you'd have to drink so much that your stomach was stretching. That's about 2 litres in one go.

There is a government recommendation, which if I recall correctly is 1.8. litres per day. If you are exercising regularly this would be an absolute minimum. We are all different, but I need a minimum of 3litres per day, more if weather is hot or am exercising.

Your wee should be a very pale straw colour. Anything darker indicates not enough fluid intake.

Drinking too much water can lead to hyponatremia, which can leave your body short of sodium. For long runs I take very diluted 6-1 apple juice with a pinch of salt added. If you run for more than an hour then you need to replenish your hydration.

I didn't know you could drink too much water! I would have thought your body would tell you when you've drunk too much?
