Hi there so I have wanted to be able to run a 5k for a really long time, I have done quite a few but always walked them....I'm not overly fit and am trying to loose weight with no support from family etc so thought I would try this! I have bought some workout clothes and am starting first thing tomorrow! 🤞🏻I don't trip over my own feet and land head first in the grass! Hope everyone elsenis having a good day x

Good for you! I’m a brand new beginner too. I’ve decided to run to lose weight and get fitter. I haven’t run anywhere for years! I start tomorrow.

Well done. Be aware the nine weeks takes you to the point where you can run non-stop for thirty minutes but most of us, when we achieved that, weren't yet doing the full 5k because that'd be 6 mins/km which is too fast for most beginners. So if your aspiration is to reach 5k, don't be discouraged because you WILL be able to do it: just be aware that it may take a little longer than nine weeks. You graduate from this programme when you have managed to run continuously for 30 minutes three times - regardless of how far you have run in that time. So don't worry about speed and don't worry YET about the distance you cover - you can work on those things after you graduate because once you can run for thirty minutes, even if it's slowly, then all sorts of things begin to be possible that were impossible before.

Thank you! I know will take a while but I'm determined to lose weight and shape up so I'm in it for the long haul! X
