So, 6 days off, coughing and feeling sorry for myself, just after completing W8 R1.
Decided to take my 14 year old son with me, which was good and bad....
W8 R2: Sarah my trainer took 10 minutes off (randomly), luckily I had downloaded Runkeeper, which told me I'd done 20 minutes just as Sarah was muttering something about 10 minutes,...? er oh dear.... so having done some checks with time etc, I was definately sure that Runkeeper was accurate, but just in case I kept on going, until I got to 3km... and at just a few seconds shy of 36 minutes running I stopped!
Wow... yes it was hard, but got more 'comfortable' as I went along. The route was mainly slightly inclined in my favour, with a few dips and hills from time to time. My son literally could not run as slowly as me, he could barely WALK as slowly as me, as I took it really easy (12/km!!) - but my chest was fine, my legs felt good and I could watch my son run for 3 minutes at 3 times my speed ahead of me (and then wait)... one day I'll out run him!!! (LOL)
I have been doing eccentric extensions to help my achilles and my pantar faciitis (sp?) during my 'cold'... and I think that has helped keeping my feet, ankles and calves in shape.
I feel really happy with my slowest of slow jogs today, and will do W8 R3 on Tuesday - I think I'll go back to my there and back route... which has a slight upward incline on the return... eek!
