Back into running?

So I completed the C25K programme in December last year, but I am ashamed to say have rarely been out since! Does anyone have any tips for getting back into it after about 4 months off?

I'm not sure but I would think you would need to go back to the beginning 😊

If you have been off running for more than two weeks you have to rerun some of the weeks, in your case being off for 4 months I would advise you to rerun all of them but you don't need to do the same 3 runs per week, i.e. Sunday run 1 of week 1, Tuesday run 1 of week 2 and so on.

Go for a run and see how you feel. If you can run 10 - 15 minutes comfortably start week 5. If you're struggling start from the beginning.

I was on the IC for four months. I did the programme from scratch again. More enjoyable second time around.

Put your shoes on and see what you can comfortably manage, then build gradually on that.

Hiya I took 5 months out. Started again from the beginning. However I used this as a positive because I know I can do it, I know you just slow down, I know it's worth it. 🙂 I'm at wk6 now and enjoying it more this time round.

I've also entered a 5km run at the end of June. This should focus my mind on the graduation runs in may/June. Then July I have a gung ho. I'm definitely best having something to work towards. I am not going to make any attempt to increase speed or distance, if it happens so be it.

Perhaps a future goal will help you post graduation? Whichever route you take, have fun 👍

No shame in that. We all do what's important to us. I suggest you make sure you have a plan in place after C25K re-graduation.

Taking part in your local parkrun is a great way to boost your enthusiasm.

Let us know how you get on! 😁
