This evening I test ran my new Decathlon run light. Here, as promised, is my beginners review. A strange experience. Firstly it was cold so getting ready to run after driving home from work is a mental hurdle. Then going out on my own in the dark. Don't get me wrong I'm not scared of the dark but with half the street lights out it's a bit dark in our village. Off I went and immediately started wondering if I'd ever get used to the bouncing light effect and the shadow of a jabbing boxer. But quite soon I was loving it. I could see really well even when I ran for about 500m with no other lights. It's easy to wear, really light weight, bright and simple to use. I'm sold- worth every penny.
But I messed up my timing by accidentally pausing Mapmyrun. I believe it was my best run ever and I felt great when I got home.

Well done you and thank you for posting, I was waiting to hear about your views on your new Decathlon light. I realise that if I want to continue running in the early morning, the dawn is only going to get later at this time of year and I will probably have to run in the dark in order to get back home for work in time. I shall therefore require being well lit. Can't rely on my white teeth to dazzle the motorists or the whites of my 👀, ha ha, plus they aren't going to help light up my route!
I'd be interested to know which one it is - head or chest? I'm looking for one to run at night - the lanes where I run are pitch black form sunset onwards.
Thanks for this post. I have bought one if these too, but havent had a chance to try out yet. i didnt think i would get on with a head light so gone for the chest light. I feel the need to try it very soon😀👍🏼🏃🏻♀️
This is the one I opted for decathlon.co.uk/run-light-i... There is a cheaper one on the market but this one has better reviews, including some on this forum. It also has a back light, red and flashing. Arrived the next day.
Righty ho, ta muchly. I was looking at that one... It's either that or one of those miner's lamp affairs that you put on your head. Not sure which s better to see where you're going (as opposed to 'being seen').
I can honestly say I could see a lot better than I feared I would. The reasons for I avoided the head torch are that someone mentioned sweaty heads and I have one- even running while it's cold. I hope I'll run in the dark next summer and I won't want anything on my head. Also I use Bluetooth headphones and thought they might not work together.
You got the run light - fantastic! It really is a game changer. The different levels of light that it emits is fantastic and the fact that is has lights at the front and back helps with being seen, not just seeing. You really can forget you're wearing it. Nice little rechargeable light that should last quite some time with a good adjustable strap. Really pleased you got it and it worked out for you.
I haven't been able to try out my Amazon-version of this yet - still determined that I'm going to, soon, but not tonight...! Glad it's worked well for you - hope mine is as good
