glorious morning run

after wavering a bit this morning I girded my loins ( well I actually put my sports bra, leggings and tee shirt on ) and off I went ….Week6!!! I remembered that some people get caught out by the change back to intervals but I was ready for it!!

I strode along in my warm up walk, squinting through my sunglasses, smiling at random people and when Laura said “ off we go for your first 5 mins run” off I went. And when she said “ that’s halfway, 2 and half minutes” I was quite surprised and then all of a sudden it was “now it’s your 3 minute walk”.

I got my breath back really quickly and was raring to go by the time I’d walked for 3 minutes but I hadn’t thought my route out properly which meant that, just as I started my 8 minute run, I had reached the crossing at the traffic lights and the lights went green for the queue of cars. This is a zig zag crossing with a second set of lights in the middle island so first I had to run up and down the pavement 4 or 5 times before crossing to the middle and then up and down the central island, about 10 times ,waiting for those lights to change again so this meant I lost momentum. Not that it really matters and I finished that section easily and also the final 5 minutes too.

However when I got home, uploaded to Garmin Connect I found that it had cost me a full 50secs per mile on the middle section. This doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things as I have no intention of entering a race or trying to better my times to join the TA BUT it would have been one of my faster runs other wise judging by the times of my 5 minute sections.

I consoled myself with a homemade Yeast Cake and butter before my shower and felt much better then😁. And then I did all my washing and was just about to hang it when the skies opened so……

A. At least I didn’t get wet when I was running

B. It means I might just as well pull up a cat and a coffee and laze about instead

so option B it is then 😁

That sounds like a great run! It’s frustrating when something puts you off your rhythm. Round here it’s usually having to leap into a hedge to avoid a tractor! Regardless of feeling a bit disappointed, it sounds like you absolutely made the most of the post-run glory with the yeast cake, coffee and cat. I’ve never had (or heard of!) a yeast cake and a quick google has made me think I’m missing out.

Here’s to better behaved zebra crossings next time!

I would love that! I e got my last busy day today and I’m planning on a chilled day tomorrow. Adding in some baking would be great!

here you go. I used to make 6 hand shaped round ones but then I hit a bit more calories conscious and now make 12 in a bun/ fairy cake tin. Just make sure you grease it well first. 180 ordinary electric oven/170fan

Enjoy. My son eats them as they are , I split and butter them

It sounds as if you are really starting to relax into the longer sections of running, rather than being desperate for them to end, so you’re more than ready for the next runs.

And C. At least you hadn’t already hung out the washing!
