Week 7 Run 2 - feeling so disappointed and upset

I attempted Week 7 run 2 tonight and had to stop 10 minutes in, I let my anxiety and self doubt get the better of me to the point where I started crying and couldn’t go on. I’m so disappointed and upset right now.

Don't be hard on yourself, we all have bad runs but that's what will keep you going, knowing you can do better! Relax, have a cuppa and don't dwell on it. 😜

Don't be so upset or disappointed with your running today Kaf_95, all of us here on C25K have had 'not so good runs' at one time or other, so far you have managed to get this far, running run 3 of week 5, officially becoming a runner with run 3 of week 6 and running another 25 minute run of week 7 run 1. Perhaps today's run was caused by not hydrating enough, or even the clock change when you lost 1 hours sleep. Have a few days rest, drink plenty of water the day before you run and take the the run a little slower than you did today. 😊

I’ve reached 15 miles now and still have bad runs. I’m having a series of them now! Totally normal. Annoying but normal. Often completely unpredictable too. Make sure you’re hydrating properly the day before and slow down and slow down again. You’ll probably be fine next run anyway!

Well... miss self doubt needs to have a look at what you did last run and keep her mouth shut in future. Miss anxiety will hopefully improve as you progress in your running. Look what you did there though... 10 minutes running when it wasn’t good... wasn’t long ago you couldn’t run 10 minutes when everything was perfect. Well done getting out there and great job on this plan so far... no need to be disappointed about what you didn’t do, be proud of everything you have done instead. We are all proud of you.

Kaf! I had my 2nd consolidation run Friday and it was horrible! I did it but my distance was rubbish and I could have given up anytime. All you need to do is just relax for a couple of days and try again! Yes has as been said drink lots of water before and take it slow and steady! Distance is unimportant just run for the 25mins! You did 10mins Kaf, very nearly half way! Get there and it’s all downhill from there! Come on girl you can do this! X

Hey Kaf, chin up my lovely, you are doing a fantastic job x those gremlins 😈 are complete bast#@ds some days. They like to take your self worth, chew it up and spit it out. So do me a favour? Go to a mirror right now and say out loud to yourself "I am amazing, I have achieved so much, in fact I am AWESOME"

Be proud of everything you have accomplished so far on C25K. And next time those little so and sos make an appearance, you tell them just how awesome you are! Say it out loud whilst running if you need to. Give them a jolly good bashing 😈🔨🔨🔨 Believe me there are people on the forum who swear aloud to their gremlins!

x

Welcome to running, even experienced runners have days where their body says "nah, not today kid". It really is part of running, it's all about getting to know your body, don't be too hard on it or yourself. I know that's easier said than done, but you're doing great to get to week 7.

Oh Kaf. I’m sorry you had a bad run. Damn those mean gremlins. Good job you are such a superstar - look how far you have come. You’ll smash it next time for sure and then it will be the gremlins who are crying🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hi Kaf please be a little easier on yourself - tomorrow is another day when you can try again or have a day off - the choice is yours - don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You’ve made it this far (I’m at the same stage as you and will be giving myself an extra day off tomorrow as I found this run hard going too) - thought I might go swimming instead as will feel I’m still exercising and hopefully be ready the next day. Keep posting and remember we’re all rooting for you 🙂 I wish I could give you a hug but please feel the virtual hug I’m sending as it comes from the heart (if you don’t like hugs no offence intended)!

You’ve come a long way so just try and remember that. Many people will testify that the 10 minute barrier is the tough one and never really goes away - if I ever feel like giving up on a run its then! So don’t be hard on yourself as we all have bad runs like that but at least you got out which is always an achievement. You will probably find if you can keep going a few more minutes things will get better. Good luck for next time 🙂

Thank you so much for all your kind messages and support, I'm still a little upset about it but I'm determined to go out tonight and give it another go! :)

Hi Kaf, I am starting week 9 tonight and have had quite a few "bad" runs where I felt like giving up (I think 7:2 was one of them). I get to 10 mins and always want to throw in the towel but when I realised it was the "Toxic 10" it really helped to push on through and kept me going. I spoke to my niece who is training for a marathon and she said she still gets TT too! Hope this helps a little with the next run :)

I think you’re a star for getting this far. Can you take some of the pressure off? Maybe go and do an earlier run or an easier one? I bet when you have a rest and a gentler pace, you can definitely do it. Good luck 👍👍👏👏👏

I think JellyJac has hit the nail on the head. Slow down for the first half of the run. You can always pick up the pace towards the end.
